New Trailer For 'Shame' Shows Off Mulligan's Pipes

One of my most anticipated films this year is 'Shame' starring Carey Mulligan and Michael Fassbender. And no, it isn't because of the countless jokes that have so far been made about Fassbender's full front nudity; the guy happens to be one of my favorite actors. Director Steve McQueen seems to have crafted a very steamy film revolving around one character's haunting personal journey. It's already garnering comparisons to 'The Last Tango in Paris,' starring Marlon Brando. The latest trailer showcases these moments and is underscored by a beautiful rendition of 'New York, New York' sung by star Carey Mulligan. Give it a gander and tell us what you think.

'Shame' hits theaters December 2nd.

I'll see it just because I still have yet to see a NC-17 movie in theater's.

It takes a lot of guts to put out a movie that gets the dreaded NC-17 rating because you just about cut out 75% of your audience. If was trying to sale a movie like this I would have asked for a not rated or looked in to getting a hard R because it's not like we really have to see the guy's manhood in  order to make it a good movie. But it must be a good movie all around in order for a studio to take a risk on something that is destined to sit in art houses across America for a month at most. I don't think there has been a major release of a movie with that rating since what the 90s. I'll look for it on DVD and I would say to director and writer try to make where the guy doesn't have to show his junk that's just as good I know you can do it. :D

Saw it at the UK International Film Festival in Leeds on Friday. Whilst I would give the movie a full-price, it doesn't quite make it to Better than Sex status, in my opinion. Both the lead actors, particularly Fassbender, give phenomenal performances (btw, look out for the scene where Mulligan sings 'New York' in the nightclub, one of my favourite scenes of the year) and I woudn't be surprised at all if Fassbender is up for Best Actor in the OSCARs come Spring. Do not miss this one :)

I like this trailer better than the first.   I can't expect this pull a huge box office no matter what the rating is, but I hope this does well with the critics.

 they should have gone unrated

This film isn't built to make money...I guarantee you this film will open at 5 theaters per state. It's a vehicle for pure acting...

It is kind of risky financially having the film be NC-17, but I'm glad they're taking that risk.  NC-17 has felt like rating that doesn't exist for years since Showgirls (which wow I didn't realize how bad that movie was until I caught it on TBS.

Anyways this movie looks like it's going to really good.

Can't wait to see this. Michael Fassbender is also one of my favorite actors. Hunger was really hard to watch, but it was good.

So, being that it's NC-17, where the FUCK is it going to play?

Comment by Mr.K on November 18, 2011 at 8:37pm

I couldn't get into his other movie "Hunger" but damn this looks promising.
