If it's crap ... We'll tell you

Sabretooth posted a statusI'm not going to pretend I'm not excited for Seth MacFarlane's 'Ted.' Although I gave up on 'Family Guy' not too long ago, something about the idea of a film in which Mark Wahlberg lives with a teddy bear that can talk, walk, and make lewd jokes made me laugh. The "Thunder Buddies" song from the initial red band trailer didn't hurt none either. But what the initial trailer didn't really explain was how the movie functioned conceptually; something this latest TV spot does. If I had known then that the conceit was that a young boy wishes for his teddy bear to talk, gets his wish, and then doesn't know what to do with that magical bear once he grows up, I would have been even more on board. It would be like what would've happened if winter never ended and those kids had to live with a foul-mouthed Frosty the Snowman forever. Take a look at the TV spot below and let us know what you think.

Comment by Kingzley Sparkman on June 19, 2012 at 9:03am WHEN did people start hating Seth Macfarlane so much?? I understand if you dont like a show but will someone explain to me why people just hate the creator. I think I know why.. Because they dont find a show that so many people praise and love to be funny.

Comment by Travis Rentz on June 13, 2012 at 1:09pm Eh, I don't know. There some potential judging from what I've seen in the TV spot, but it has a slim chance of being the best comedy this summer. I've always thought of Family Guy as being a really inconsistent show, having really good season openers and then having 5 crappy episodes afterwards. I feel this movie might be the same way, having one funny joke and then a few lousy ones.
Comment by Jon Riddle on June 13, 2012 at 11:25am Never liked Family Guy. It always struck me as cheap and bottom-of-the-barrel. Just because you have racism, fart jokes and pop culture references doesn't mean you're funny, not to mention that the show requires an audience with the attention span of a squirell hopped up on cocaine. American Dad and the Cleveland Show were even trashier, dumber, and more painful to watch. I've never liked Seth McFarlane's TV work and I had to suffer through enough of his idotic schtick thanks to jackasses I met in college to last me the rest of my fucking life.
Having said that - I'm kind of anxious to check this movie out.
