The life and legend of Columbian druglord Pablo Escobar has come a long way trying to make it's way onto the big screen. Hopefully, the newest take on the fascinating character by Brad Furman ('The Lincoln Lawyer') will be the one that finally succeeds. Referred to as 'The World's Greatest Outlaw', Escobar was one of the wealthiest and most elusive criminals in all of history. Producer Scott Steindorf says the film will be a cross between 'The Godfather' and a war movie, focusing both on the charismatic personality of Escobar as well as his often-violent lifestyle.

Steindorf continues:

"This is the Latino 'Godfather'... We’re showing the story of his family, the structure of his enterprise, his rise—the man had the largest criminal organization in the world. In the end, it was a war between Colombia and one man.”

Previous attempts to bring a biopic based on Escobar have been for naught - both Oliver Stone's 'Escobar' and Joe Carnahan's 2007 project 'Killing Pablo' ended up going nowhere and being eventually disbanded. Newcomer Matt Aldrich will be scripting the film, after the successful sale of his spec script 'Father Daughter Time: A Tale of Armed Robbery and Eskimo Kisses' to Warner Bros. landed him the gig.

hmm oliver stone could so pull an escobar bio pic together. but brad fumman? he's really a guy pulled onto scripts that don't suit a specific director.

What can we said about this guy that hasn't already been borrowed/mined from fictional films that used him as source material?

Actually I feel kind offended by the making of this movie, the only way I would feel like this is that when it comes out they show him like the scum he was, this Son of a B!"$ killed my grand parents and kidnapped an uncle, so Hollywood better treat this man the way he deserves and not make him an icon so people can look up to him.

@Cinemessiah

You're was the absolute first, but to be fair all you really did was paste a copy of the trailer for the fake movie from Entourage in the comments section, T-Wilk did a half assed version of the same thing, the best joke goes to Superbadmike! LOL

@mst3k4evur At least read his entire wiki page before posting a comment. Parents are Colombian and I used to live in Cali (Another crazy as hell city back in the day)

To this day you still have people idolizing Escobar. Its cause of him most of the poor in Medellin have a home. He turned a large garbage pit; where people lived and scavenged for foods/goods into neighborhoods. http://youtu.be/xhZFbc6H_FY

The way he got to power is also like now other. I don't want to make this any longer so Ill just highly recommend watching this doc. http://youtu.be/yd5amEEVLgk Its about how Escobar used the poor and soccer to rise to power.

Even if you're just trollin; idc I hope other who've never really heard of Escobar can get an idea of the real man. This movie can truly be amazing if done right! There's hundreds of doc. about him; no reason for them to get it wrong. Unless they're just going for a regular action/mafia film.

The title of the movie should be called Medillin(or however you spell it) from the T.V show Entourage when they did a biopic about Pablo Escobar, and Adrian Grenier's character Vince Chase played the lead of Escobar in the movie!!! In real life they should just hire Adrian Grenier to star in the movie, I think that would be cool!!!!! Also this movie shouldn't suck like the one in the T.V show did !!!!!
