The thing I love about Shane Black is that almost every hero he has ever written has been, while admittedly funny, flawed and at the end of their rope. Riggs (Mel Gibson) from 'Lethal Weapon' is a great example of this. That was one reason I was so excited when he was announced as the director of 'Iron Man 3.' I can't wait to see how Black brings Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) to that desperate place that will ultimately define him as a character. This latest poster for the film sort of emphasizes that point. Tony plummets from the sky in his iconic suit, but the helmet is gone and it's clear a recent battle has taken its toll. It speaks to the turmoil and adversity Tony will face in this sequel. Take a look at the poster below and let us know what you think.

'Iron Man 3' hits theaters May 3rd

Great poster! The best in many months, gets you excited to find out what happens, it's unlike any other poster I've seen, and I want it on my wall now. To me, it almost looks painted. Good job, Marvel :-)

I think this is gonna be my birthday present to myself!

I love the idea behind the poster.  Depicting Tony crashing and burning is an excellent way to differentiate this movie from most other films in the same genre.

But this Photoshop is horrendous.

@akage as someone pointed out the superman posters are boring and are also clearly photoshopped without describing much about the movie.  This was obviously concept art they put out as a poster.  I think it's effective,  and lazy would be the posters for the avengers.  I don't understand why it has to be photo realistic or it's considered lazy

I have alot of experience with photoshop also. I wouldn't say its lazy, but I definitly think technically there seems to be some "bleh" things going on in it. Im shocked its an official poster. I've seen guys in my class do better pieces then this.

I like how people are saying this poster is lazy, and yet its 100 times better then the shit Man Of Steel posters that OBVIOUSLY look photo shopped.

@ Anthony Stokes,

As someone who has a shit-load of photoshop experience (lulz at my worthless video game design degree); I have to say that there is a huge degree in difference with what you can accomplish with image design software. It's like comparing a work of art to a finger painting because they both use paint.

Anyways, with that said -- this poster is really fucking lazy, lol.
