We're still six months away from the release of Shane Black's 'Iron Man 3,' but I already feel like we know quite a bit about it. We know who the villain will be, we know that Warren Elis' 'Extremis' will serve as the basis for the story, and that the plot will pick up after the events of 'The Avengers.' Personally, I feel like that's more then enough of a frame of reference to have going into it. However if, as they say in 'Starship Troopers,' you would like know more, a few very specific plot details were recently revealed by Simon Phillips. Phillips, the president of Marvel Entertainment International, let slip a few particulars during an event in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and some intrepid journo was there to bring us a report. Be forewarned, if you don't want the finer points of the movie spoiled for you, do NOT read on.
"The big surprise was that Tony Stark may combine bits of their armor, making custom configurations. Arms with the Mark I and Mark II breastplate of head Mark III, for example. But the superhero arsenal includes much more than that, since the underground tank armor it will be significantly higher than in the previous films, with at least 16 new (and we can expect some classic visuals of comics in the middle)! This manipulation of distance pieces will be possible thanks to technology Extremis, which is deployed in Tony Stark in the surgery scene that appears in the trailer."
He goes on to note that Pepper Pots (Gwyneth Paltrow) will also don her own armor at some point in the movie. For months, we've been seeing images of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) standing in front of an imposing collection of various versions of his Iron Man suit. It makes sense that we were working toward some kind of mega armor, the Voltron of Iron Man suits. I honestly don't feel that spoiled by this particular piece of information. Far more intriguing is the idea that Pepper Potts will be suiting up herself. The report indicates that Pepper did at one point in the comics receive her own armor, but to my knowledge that is not part of the 'Extremis' storyline. That's far from the first deviation from the graphic novel that we've come to expect. Plenty of characters have so far been added to the fray who did not appear in Ellis' story. It'll be interesting to see how all these elements, like the elements of Tony's arsenal, come together to make something functional and visually thrilling.
What do you guys think? Feeling inordinately spoiled? Were you expecting either of these elements to find their way into 'Iron Man 3?'

Comment by james osi on November 10, 2012 at 10:44pm I don't get why age has to do with somebody getting a role. if a guy or gal can play the part why not cast her.If they wanted to cast the star of the Showtime show "Weeds" as Wonder Woman why not?
I guess being old is the new black(person) in hollywood.
just saying
Comment by Kroxigor on November 10, 2012 at 8:10pm Oh my
Comment by Amazing Pinto on November 10, 2012 at 12:30pm I think they know Robert Downey Jr. is going to be too old to star in an "Iron Man 4", so they are cramming as many plots and storylines they can in a single movie. I smell disaster.
Comment by John Lemus on November 10, 2012 at 7:59am This sounds like it may be a super condensed piece of regurgitated shit, a brilliant three hour long film, or a mildly condensed two and a half hour long piece of only semi regurgitated shit
It also sounds like they are gearing up to make this the last solo Ironman movie unless it goes on to make at least a billion. To me it sounds like they just want to do way too much for one movie thinning down any plot or storyline to the point that its just another Michael Bay film with lots of nice special effects and action scenes.

Comment by NemesisPrime909 on November 9, 2012 at 2:08pm so it sounds like they're mixing Extremis with Dark Reign, to which I say Bring it On! I love both of those stories
