The Gambler of Fate. posted a statusThe scope and scale of Peter Jackson's 'The Hobbit,' now a trilogy, sometimes manages to swallow up the pure magic of its storytelling. I'm sure once we see the movie, it will present a totally immersing theatrical experience as did the previous trilogy, but the abundance of super garish marketing materials up to now, and the discussion of the elevated frame rate presentation, has sort of dulled my excitement. That's why I'm so glad to see this Japanese poster for the first installment. For all its gorgeously painted figures, it still feels more simplistic than a lot of the posters I've seen and has a very concise adventure-promising feel to it. I dig it, what do you guys think?

Comment by Amazing Pinto on November 27, 2012 at 12:23am Hobbits are supposed to be tiny, not huge and towering over trolls and cartoon dwarfs.
I'm not digging this poster, it's generic yellow-blue, it has a stupid filter on it, the focus is too much on ring and all the characters look kinda confused. Just kinda "meh" overall.
Comment by J Rod on November 26, 2012 at 11:57pm It's very pinball-machine-y.
Comment by Aaron Lee Lozano on November 26, 2012 at 10:25pm It really bothers me when a chracter comes out on a poster twice with two big shots of themselves. It just seems weird.
Comment by stiver on November 26, 2012 at 7:41pm "The whole emphasis of the ring is a bit wrong to me. It is important. But is not the sole focus of this trilogy. Or it shouldn't be. Eh I can't really get excited about this movie, but that is just me."
What is the most recognizable and marketable aspect of LOTR? Gollum & the ring.
For all you know the movie itself sidelines these aspects as much as the book does, stop pretending the marketing has anything to do with how the final product of the film turns out.
Comment by Obscene Otter on November 26, 2012 at 7:12pm What!? This is releasing in December!?

Comment by SpikeGhost on November 26, 2012 at 6:07pm it seems to look too much like the Lord of the Ring posters. Plus i hate the blue/yellow thing going on.
