When the Earth is threatened, the only hope for humanity is the combined forces of the greatest Marvel superheroes in 'The Avengers'. New images from the film showcase the star studded cast, including Chris Evans (Captain America), Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Scarlett Johansson (The Black Widow), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Samuel L Jackson (Nick Fury) and Mark Rufalo (The Hulk). They also showcase some supremely hideous photoshop work (WTF is with Thor's face?), The Black Widow as a bobblehead, and Bruce Banner giving us his best "Blue Steel". The superhero action film will be in theaters May 4th, 2012.

Comment by John Lemus on October 3, 2011 at 11:15am As much as Mark Rufalo turns me off I still really want to see this movie. So far the only bad things i have seen is I feel they cut Black Widows Hair too short but its still nice. Also I think both the Chris's have been overdoing it on the steroid.
I wish they would lose Mark Rufalo and just use Smart Hulk the entire length of the movie. Why Smart Hulk you say. Well by the end of the last Hulk film Bruce had already started to learn how to control Hulk so being a genius I don't think it would have taken him much longer to get full control. Plus when he is already in Smart Hulk form all he has to do from there is get really pissed and then just turn into his regular Hulk Form.
As much as I don't care for Mark Rufalo I don't think he alone is enough to fuck this movie up not matter how stupid his face is in that picture.
Really interesting video here

OK, I can see what you mean with the Black Widow costume.
Yeah basically without a mask Hawkeye looks like speical forces army guy and not a superhero!
Comment by Gift of the Magi on October 3, 2011 at 8:45am Oh shit...forgot to post this...oy, need me meds....For those that say Black Widow's costume is exactly like the comics, take a look at this

As you can see, her wrist bands are not only gold-colored, but they are also weapons. One thing these don't show is that they also have swing lines too ala Batman. Her belt is a series of gold circles, the buckle has a red hourglass. Now she does use guns on occasion, but that's usually assault rifles with more range than her wrist guns.
Comment by Gift of the Magi on October 3, 2011 at 8:37am @Happy Birthday Roboto: With the Hawkeye costume, I think you hit the nail on the head. The ultimates costume is barely known outside of hardcore comic fans, while his original purple and blue suit with the mask is currently being shown all over Avengers: Earth's Mightest Heroes and pops up more on Google image searches. While I'm not gonna say that using THAT exact costume is a good idea, getting closer to it WOULD make him look more the superhero...
...and less a SHIELD extra with a bow. His current costume is BORING AS SHIT. Forget how much I fucking HATE HATE HATE the Ultimates line (I may need therapy, seriously. Every time I see some Ultimates titles, I want to murder puppies with a cheese grater), the costume has no identity and near-zero style. It's too basic, ugly and forgettable. The actor at least deserves better.
As for Iron Man...ok, all the moving parts are cool and such for the first suit, because we wanted something that looks like it could plausibly do what Stark wants it to do. However, ALL those moving parts, covering EVERY inch of the surface makes it seem...fragile. I keep waiting for something to break off or get a dent and lock up half the armor. Power armor anime tend toward this route, to the point you can barely tell what the fuck you're looking at. So personally, I would like to see more solid armored surfaces. Lock the stuff together or have it under panels that close up.

To be honest, I'm aware of The Maxx but never read it, but based on what little I remember it was the sort fo thing that worked best in animation. It was a comic from the '90s that's kind of been forgotten so the likelyhood of a film being made aren't strong, sorry!
Comment by John Lemus on October 2, 2011 at 8:00pm Happy I really like Joss Whedons work especially what he has done in comic and motion comic. He has directed most of the post credit scenes in the movies I can sense his presence in Thor. I would like to see him work with Guillermo Del Toro on a comic movie. I think it would be very interesting to see. I would also like to see Tim Burton take on another Comic Property.
Question to my friends one here Am I the only one who would really like to see a Live Action take on The Maxx. I mean it the Tv series is one of the best I have seen. It use to air with Aeon Flux.
I feel the Aeon Flux movie was not bad. Granted it has next to nothing to do with either the series or comic but it still had decent action very good cinematography a very nice score and even though I feel Charlize Theron was a miscast she did her best and looked super fucking hot.
