Premiering in the newest issue of Empire Magazine, new images from the David Fincher adaptation of the best selling Swedish book 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' have been released. Also in the issue are new set images from the upcoming film, 'Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows'. The pics reveal Robert Downey Jr in his return as the famous sleuth as well as Jude Law as his trusted partner Dr. Watson. Also shown is Jared Harris as Professor Moriarty (Holmes' arch-nemesis), and Noomi Rapace as the mysterious gypsy woman Sim.

@TheVern I know what you mean, but I doubt Fincher will tone down anything in Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. He's never been known for playing it safe. The poster certainly wasn't toned down at all. So looking forward to that movie!

I'm intrigued about Sherlock Holmes 2, although I felt there was room for improvement in the first, I really liked the direction and actors.

@Ron Grijs

   I hadn't heard about this ending change, but now I'm excited. I felt the ending in the movie (haven't read the book) was less satisfying and unusual then the rest of it.

I am looking forward to the both films but keeping my expectations low so I can enjoy them more.  :|

Oh man, I can't wait for either of these. The first Sherlock was one of my favorite films that year, and the original GwtDT was friggin' awesome.

Anyone else not really concerned with Sherlock Holmes 2? I watched the film right after Avatar (both movies over two hours) and I got really bored when watching Sherlock Holmes so I didn't get to fully enjoy it....

@Sam, are you confusing the two films? Daniel Graig plays a journalist in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. You make it sound as if he is a detective in SH2.

BTW, Graig was a good casting choice. In the book his character is a lady's man although I never felt like he was conventionally handsome. Graig has that look as well as the acting abilties to put forth a believable performance.

I can't wait for both films. Loved the Dragon Tattoo novel but could never get into the Swedish movie adaption. This American version looks like it is more to my tastes alhtough I fear for what Fincher did with the ending... And Sherlock Holmes... always fun to see Downey in weird roles. To me he is like Johhny Depp except I haven't grown tired of seeing him everywhere.

Still waiting for SH2! I never really got into the prior stories, really. Can't say I saw someone like Daniel Craig as the detective though...my mum made him sound much mousier.

I've loved David Fincher since the beginning. His style has always fascinated me and it actually helped prompt myself to go to film school. He's my favorite director of all time and the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo will most definitely be another brick in his intense as all hell films house.
Because while I loved Benjamin Button and Social Network.
I've been waiting for him to go back to hard "R." His trump card from the start has been mind bending, edge of your seat thrillers. And the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo was a intense film from the start. So knowing he's the one to bring it here. Brings me all the hope in the world for the remake.
