I was already interested in Neill Blomkamp's 'Elyisum' prior to Comic-Con, because it is in fact a new Blomkamp sci-fi movie, but the footage they revealed during that panel rocketed the movie way up my list of most anticipated films of 2013. 'Elysium,' takes place in a distant future wherein the wealthy have built a private space station to escape the ruined Earth below. Matt Damon stars as an ex-con trying to restore equality, and Sharlto Copley ('District 9') will play the villainous Kruger. Today, we have our first glimpse at just what Kruger will look like. Based on what I've seen so far, it appears that Kruger will be one of those classic warlords of the wasteland type characters; something that will always entice me. I like how little bits of tech are worked into his very flesh even as he's dressed in tattered rags. Take a look at the image below and let us know what you think.

'Elysium' hits theaters August 9th, 2013

"Elysium takes place in a distant future wherein the wealthy have built a private space station to escape the ruined Earth below."

Is it just me or does that sound similar to the plot of Megaman X8 and Megaman Legends 2? Not to mention the fact that the word Elysium is mentioned as a reference in X5 and it's a MAJOR plot point (to the point of almost being in spoiler territory) in Megaman Legends.

Other than this comment from me, I have no interest for this movie.

He looks like a dwarf from The Hobbit.

Almost forgot this movie was coming out next year. Hopefully we'll be getting a trailer sometime soon.

Sharlto Copely, say what you will about his acting ability but that man fast-tracked it something fierce to the big times.

Wikus!!! I'm stoked about this film, i hope after it Neil Blomkamp can make a follow up to D-9.
