This has been a big day for plot details revealed in interviews with actresses. First, Charlize Theron spills the beans that the on again/off again 'Mad Max: Fury Road' won't be a prequel or a sequel but a re-imagining, and now an L.A. Times interview with Anne Hathaway, Catwoman herself, is yielding fresh 'Dark Knight Rises' plot details. The intro to the interview, which reads like a page directly from the script, paints a perfect picture of a fascinating scene from the film. The paragraph is listed below, but please be advised, it is very spoilery. If you want to go into 'TDKR' blind, DO NOT READ this next paragraph.
"Gotham City is a war zone. A ruthless madman named Bane has ripped away any sense of security and the citizens, haggard and clutching suitcases with refugee anxiety, sit behind barbed wire waiting to see what will blow up next. A hooded prisoner is dragged in – it’s Bruce Wayne, one of Gotham’s most famous faces – but the eyes of the crowd go instead to the woman in black standing at the top of the staircase. 'Sorry to spoil things, boys, but Bane needs these guys himself,' says sultry Selina Kyle, played here by actress Anne Hathaway, navigating the steps with stiletto heels that, on closer inspection, turn out to have serrated edges capable of leaving nasty claw marks in a fight. She also wears high-tech goggles that, when not in use, flip up and resemble feline ears."
Sounds pretty intense right? The interesting thing about this snippet is that it suggests a level of collusion between Bane and Catwoman that, while easily assumed, had never before been confirmed. I'm not at all surprised that Bruce Wayne is among the hostages. The whole point of Bane's quest, as least as it was in the comics, was to make Batman suffer as much as possible both mentally and physically before he finally faced him one-on-one, and he discovers during this mission that Bruce Wayne is Batman. The two events sort of go hand-in-hand. Hathaway also revealed that since silver screen legend Hedy Lamarr was Batman creator Bob Kane's inspiration for Catwoman, that she has been researching the actress to pick up a few pointers; apparently even adjusting her breathing to imitate Lamarr. All in all, a very intriguing interview to be certain.

Comment by stalksthemoon on January 3, 2012 at 1:35am So to summarize:
fanboys: This is going to be the greatest movie ever!! Can't wait!! I can understand Bane's voice just fine! It shouldn't be changed, it will ruin Nolan's visions of the character! You guys don't know what you're talking about with Anne Hathaway, she'll make a great catwoman!
pessimistic fanboys: I don't like catwoman's costume, why is Nolan trying to force feed the 99% crap down our throats with catwoman?, I can't understand Bane, I've only seen a trailer, a couple of set pictures, and read one interview, but clearly I know exactly how every character will be portrayed, what their character arcs will be, and what the film will get wrong about these characters I love so much, because Nolan certainly has not gotten this at all right before.
Haters: Dark Knight is overrated, Dark Knight fanboys are the worst kind of fanboys, everything about this movie is going to suck and I can't wait to be proven right and laugh at all of the fanboys.
Copy and paste these in every Batman article until the movie is released, done.
Comment by Gift of the Magi on January 2, 2012 at 3:37am You know...if Batman DID call in Superman (the new one) and he DID make an appearance...I might actually see this film...if only for the 'oh shit, things just got real' moment for Bane the 1.738902 seconds he has before Supes turns him into a pretzel.

I think Joker was making a quick buck on the side by selling arms to terrorists in the comics, the writers included the Libyans because they were in the news at the time! But Nolan made the Joker the actual terrorist himself, but I digress.
With regards to the "reality out the window" it's possible that Bane tries to take over the city with tanks and then the mayor calls the National Guard in and the whole film happens within a twenty four hour window between the two events...
basically I'm saying that it still could be plausible, we need to see the film first, it'll be here soon enough...
Comment by Joshua Balcombe on December 30, 2011 at 5:32pm Maxwell you realize Nolan is the only creative mind to FILM any of these characters this way right? That's great if you know all the history of the Joker but NO ONE has been able to adapt ANY aspect of Joker or Batman into film into something amazing or close to perfect. If you don't know every aspect of the writing process and just assume they copied and pasted it into a film and it is that easy, it's no wonder you don't want him getting as much credit as he is getting. Plus no opinion is wrong, try and calm down dude.
