If it's crap ... We'll tell you

For your eyes only: a press conference was held in London with director Sam Mendes and cast members of the next James Bond film where it was confirmed that the title of the next Bond film will be 'Skyfall.' It was also revealed that the plot of the film will revolve around something (or someone) from MI6 director M's past coming back to haunt her...and the entire agency. MI6 comes under attack and Bond must eliminate this highly personal threat. Beyond the obvious returns of Daniel Craig and Dame Judi Dench, cast attendees - whose names can officially be fished out of the rumor pool and listed as confirmed - were Naomie Harris ('Ninja Assassin') and Javier Bardem ('No Country for Old Men'). Ralph Fiennes (the 'Harry Potter' films) and Albert Finney ('The Bourne Ultimatum') were also confirmed during the proceedings. But possibly the best news of all: it was confirmed that 'Skyfall' will not be directly connected to the first two films; meaning that revenge plot of 'Quantum of Solace' that lead to such muddled storytelling and ridiculous villain schemes is no more.
Many of the cast members confirmed by the press conference were pretty much locks, but it's nice to see that reporting their names in association with the film is no longer a perpetuation of rumors. I'm not wild about the title 'Skyfall,' but the title is so secondary to the film itself that I can easily get over it. Plus, it's already better than 'Quantum of Solace.' The plot involving MI6 being attacked by someone from M's past has the potential to be spectacular. Not only will it get the character more involved in the film, but it will also open doors to MI6's clandestine history. 'Skyfall' begins shooting today and will be released stateside November 9, 2012.
What do you guys think of that title?

Comment by Happy Birthday Roboto on November 5, 2011 at 9:36am It shouldn't be up to the fans to have to think of a story. 24 showed us Keifer Sutherland as a post 9/11 secret agent/counter terrorism guy and the first Mission: Impossible showed us a good post cold war story.
Let the filmmakers come up with good stories that make good movies, that's their job!

You said it! Even the title font looks bland! :(

Comment by Gift of the Magi on November 4, 2011 at 5:22am What I think of the title depends on what 'Skyfall' means. Goldeneye was a STUPID name for a film, but the title was the codename for a satellite that could shoot an EMP pulse big enough to shut down entire cities...a nasty weapon.
But the MI6 plot...with M...didn't we do this once before? Didn't Goldeneye and The World Is Not Enough use these plot ideas already?

Comment by The Dork Knight on November 3, 2011 at 9:12pm 2012 Summer is definitely going to feel like the 2008 Summer...
in 2008 I was sitting in the theater waiting for The Dark Knight to play and saw the Quantum of Solace trailer before it (not that it was anywhere near as good as Casino Royale).
and in 2012 I'll be sitting in the theater waiting for The Dark Knight Rises to begin and possibly see the trailer for 'Skyrim'...I mean 'Skyfall'.
