Since the Spill Crew is going nuts over this movie, I felt I had to add my 2 cents. I semi-enthusiastically went to see this film on May 8 cuz my mom wanted to see a movie. Spill (esp. Carlyle) gave me some hope that this movie was gonna be great or at really good. I thought it was going on the same level as The Wrath of Khan (It's been 3 years since I have seen that movie) or The Next Generation: First Contact (I saw it three months ago on cable), My favorite Star Trek movies.
This Star Trek reboot however I thought was just a ploy to a quick buck and to put in PG-13 sex and explosions. I guess JJ Arbams (the guy that brought us crap like Cloverfield and Lost) decided to change the plot by throwing random black-holes (that defies Einstein's theories because a blackhole would rip u apart, duh) adding a love-story between the black chick (Uhura, she should be mine anyway lol) and Spock that came out of nowhere, and a Romulan Death Star knockoff. I know that Kirk is the biggest player in the universe but why did he wanna bang a human white chick that spray-painted herself green?
Why didn't Kirk and Sulu beam onto the Romulan Death Star knockoff, and why do they have lousy parachutes instead of jetpacks?
I thought the space-battles were ok, but I thought star trek was better than some generic maniac wanting to blow up stuff because he's mad and can't be talked out of it. Spock was trying to help them.
WHY THE HELL WAS MADEA A STAR FLEET JUDGE?!
To all Spill members: am I being too critically or am I right?
PS:Where was Shatner?
