My review of Transformers: Dark of the Moon

I was expecting myself to hate this movie, and I was dreading when my Dad rented this, but after having seen this...let me be honest, this is the only Transformers movie I actually kinda liked. But at the same time, I see its problems.

On the positive notes...The visual effects are incredible. The entire third act final battle scene is by far the best chunk of the movie, since it actually keeps you on edge the whole way. Thankfully, those racial sterotypes (Mudflap and Skidz) are out of the picture, and quite honestly, I'm glad Megan Fox wasn't in this, either, since I found the actress who has replaced her (Rosie Huntington-Whiteley) a little more interesting. For once in this series, there are some brief genuine laugh-moments, just one in the first act (which I won't spoil here), then a few in the third act. And the action scenes, piticularly the ones the were the final fights between certain Transformers, were actually pretty damn amazing.

Issues...This movie's pacing is terrible. It's two and half hours in running time, but for me, this felt more like three and a half. Most of the scenes that aren't focused on the Transformers are, as they always for most of the series, either annoying or just plain boring, and most of the jokes they do (except for the few I kinda liked) were pretty unfunny. The first and second act, despite a few scenes with the government stuff and the Transformers, just felt like they were going on forever. Some of the main villians in the this movie don't even get enough screen-time, even in some places of the third act. And the some of the dialogue in several places is pretty dull or bad.

Overall, though this is the only Transformers movie I like, it's more of a guilty pleasure at best, and I think Green Lantern was much better than this by comparison.

Yeah, I didn't like the way the new girl was introduced, either.

I agree with you on some points. The pacing is way awful and felt like a 3-hour movie but the final act is all action-packed. But on humor....I'm sorry but I found nothing funny in the movie. I agree the new girl is better than what's-her-face but the way they introduced her in the beginning, that's mostly what Michael Bay is known for, aside from 'PLOISIONS!!!!

But still, nice review, man.
