Hello Ladies and Gentleman, I am ChaosJumper and I do stuff because I want to! Today, I will review a series that only has ten out of twelve of its episodes. It is a relatively short Cartoon Network series blending the high school premise with an apocalypse theme to it as well. Is this series any good or does have ten episodes for a reason? Let’s find out in this review for Robotomy.

      The synopsis, to this series, is that there are two robots, Thrasher and Blastus, living on the robotic planet of Inanus. These two characters try to make it through the insanity that is high school because of their indifference of not being as horrific as their fellow piers.

      On the animation, Cartoon Network spent their money’s worth on making this series look good. The character designs to Robotomy are really detailed and unique, making it near to impossible to ask who is who. The backgrounds are dark and gruesome, which is very fitting with the apocalyptic atmosphere. The movement of the characters, along with other objects, is very fluid and clear, with little to no hiccups in sight. I do not have many issues with the animation accept when they have flames and explosions. Although I do understand it is supposed to be simple, it is just too simple for my taste. With that said, the animation is well polished and showed the amount of hard work was done on the series and how much money Cartoon Network put into this series.

      Now, we go into what would make a cartoon tick; its characters. We first have Thrasher, played by comedian, Patton Oswalt. A rather surprising roll for this comedian because the character he is acting as is the tall, nervous and cautious character. The series primarily centers on this character and how he handles with situations similar to how an average person would handle these problems. For this world, that is a problem and we will get more into that in a second. Basically, Thrasher falls into the Average Joe category that falls prey to his friend’s badly planned out ideas. Blastus is that character who is the exact opposite to all the other robots; sensitive, emotional and non-deadly as well as overconfident in himself to become the most popular person in class. He isn’t the stupid character you just cannot stand, but he is that rash character who just does not know that he made a mistake until the very last minute. These two characters are our primary focus because of how different they are from all the other robots of Insania. Other characters include Weenus, played by Michael Sinterniklaas (Dean Venture), the nerdy character who has a giant arm and an occasional shift in his voice from nerdy to insane. Then there is Megawatt, played by the same actor, who is the Alpha dog killer who makes all the female bots go crazy over. Then there is Dreadnot, played by Dana Snyder (Master Shake), who is the crazy teacher who loves inflecting pain and destruction to his students along with the principle, played by the same actor, who just looks crazy, but is the kinder robot when not on an insane rampage. Finally, there is Maimy, the snobby popular student who Thrasher has fallen in love with, with a tendency to manipulate her peers as well as claw out their faces. All of these characters are what would be seen in other high school related cartoons; however, the characters are just to get the purpose of the series across.

      The humor and story center around the insanity these characters have to go through on a regular basis. Whether it’d be their grandmother going nuclear and destroying the world, again, or destroying the environment to save the world or taking out their life fluids just to have upgrades. The series is a backwards version of life in America, not just in high school, as well as a parody. It would make fun of what we find as entertaining, such as Twitter, Twilight and Fireworks as well as parodying things we see in education in a darker and more gruesome tone. Being student body president, special classes and what it takes to be popular are examples of this. The destruction in the series is massive, but also humorous, in its own dark and backwards way. Most of the kills, in the series, are either out of nowhere randomness or are related to the parody of American pulp culture as well as high school life. Another side of this show is the randomness in how to kill robots sometimes for no rhyme or reason and . . . . you know what, you and I both know I cannot go further in this review without putting up this fact: Robotomy is this for children. . .

. . .for those of you who know that this series is, I am not kidding, Robotomy had the same humor as the Adult Swim series Superjail! with a some more parody of America’s culture behind it. If you are not a fan of Superjail, or just do not like this type of humor, Robotomy is not the show for you; however, if you are interested, iTunes.com has all ten episodes, for a cheap fee so check it out.

         Overall, Robotomy was an enjoyable series for me to sit down and view. The animation was great, the characters served their purposes pretty well and humor delivered with either out of nowhere destruction or well established parody. Because this show did not do well with its viewings in foreign countries, and possibly the United States as well, it only had 10 episodes of viewing. I'll have to say that this is an Unbelievably Great and I suggest to at least give it a shot if you are interested in something new. This is ChaosJumper, sighing off. Later Everybody!
