I know a lot of people usually do their best of the year stuff, however, I want to do something a little different, I decide to post the movies that I look forward to see in 2009, now this is in no particular order, just some movies I am looking forward to seeing... Heads up, this is just an honest opinion
1. Watchmen:
What can I say about this movie other than Fox wanting their profit or not for this movie to ever see the light of day but this movie looks incredible. The story is of course based on the incredible graphic novel written by Alan Moore & Illustrated by Dave Gibbons & the story revolves around murder, the past & the present. The cast looks exactly like the people that they are playing & with 300 director Zack Snyder directing the film, it looks like we have something to look forward to after the winter thaw
2. Fanboys:
Just by seeing the trailer, makes this look like this could be one of the best comedies of the year, with cameos from Kevin Smith, William Shatner, Billy Dee Williams & Harry Knowles (Ain't it cool news) plus the fact that in the movie, Kristen Bell as Slave Leia (nuff said) but the plot actually can work out & it got me laughing, so anything is possible, this is more of a wait & see but I think its worth it.
3. Terminator Salvation:
This is the movie I have been asking for since I ever got interested in the Terminator, I have always wanted one of these movies to focus on the war itself. Now don't get me wrong, the Terminator story is awesome & the first two terminators are some of my all time favorite movies, first when I heard about it, I was surprised and shocked at the same time, but then I wonder, who would portray John Connor.... Enter Christan Bale & I kid you not, when I saw the teaser, I became a believer, this is where the Terminator franchise needs to go, focus on the war with Skynet
4. Transformers: revenge of the fallen:
First off, this has 40 robots, 40 ROBOTS!!!! Bay promised bigger & better with the sequel and it is shaping up to be that way. This movie is supposedly focused on the waging war between the Autobots & Decepticons. With the addition of Soundwave, Devastator & so much more, this is just giant robots beating the crap out of each other, but that's all I can ask for a transformers movie.
5. Up:
Pixar, Pixar, Pixar.... Toy Story 1 & 2 are amazing, Finding Nemo was fun, Cars was fantastic as was Ratatoullie & Wall-E & now you bring us another gem. Up is the story of an elder man who manages to do the unthinkable, he makes his house fly by using thousands of balloons. With Pixar's record of movies & Disney using their magic, this could be the animated hit of the year.
6. Public Enemies:
This one flew under the radar, but then I saw what the movie was about, this is a movie about Gangsters, but not just any, try notorious American gangsters John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd. This movie has an all star cast including Johnny Depp as Dillinger, this look like one of the best gangsters films since Road to Perdition.
7. Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince:
It's no secret, I like Harry Potter & the movies had managed to keep the magic that I have read in the books. HBP will not disappoint IMO
8. X-Men Origins: Wolverine:
I loved X-men 1 & 2, 3 was a bit of a disappointment (thanks Brett Ratner) but I have a good feeling about this one, of course as the title mentions, this is about everyone's favorite Canadian Badass Mutant, Logan as he goes through Project X.
Those are some of the movies I hope to see & enjoy.
