My Concerns Regarding Disney's "The Princess and The Frog"

I just want to say right off the bat that I'm a little worried about how this film might turn out. I'm sorry, guys, but so far, none of the trailers and ads as of late have impressed me. Not that I think it's gonna suck, but I'm just worried it might be as good as they're hyping it up to be.

Why? We'll here's my 2 main reasons what I'm worried for this film as noted from the trailers:

1. The Humor: Really? A alligator (or is it a crocodile? Whatever.) playing a TRUMPET? And a hillbilly lightning bug? THAT'S the best Disney's crack team of writers can come up with for humor? I don't see anything funny about either of those; they just seem out of place. Besides, I'm afraid that quack of a film critic Armound White will bullshit in his foul, pitiful excuse for a review of this film about how the movie's ripping off "Trumpet of the Swan" because it has an alligator PLAYING A FREAKING TRUMPET! Remember guys: this is the faggot who, in his infamous "review" of "Up", caused an uproar across the internet (me being one of those in an uproar) about how it was a rip-off of "The Red Balloon" just because it has balloons in it. Seriously, guys, that's how fucking retarded the guy is. Either way, the humor in THIS movie doesn't seem like it'll have many funny punch-lines to most of its jokes.

and 2. The Plot: While the idea of there being a reason WHY the Frog Prince was turing into a frog in the first place sounds good (admittedly, the way it's described in the trailer sounds reasonable enough), everything else afterwards appears to be kinda uncertain. The fact that there's the bit about the initial kiss backfiring, and the princess turning into a frog herself in the process sounds like there won't be much interesting stuff happening later on except for whatever songs Randy Newman (who's a BRILLIANT composer choice for this film, btw) gives us. Unless they make the stuff with Keith "Join the MF-Ing Navy" David's villain character cool and make it keep out attention, I'm sorry to say that, in terms of "classic Disney storytelling", I'm just not feeling it.

Maybe I'm just still a little disenchanted when it comes to animated Disney films. "Bolt" restored most of my faith in Disney last year by surprising me with how fun and heartwarming it was, but, until they make the BEST 2-D ANIMATED FILM SINCE THEIR 90's FILMS, I'm still a little wary with stuff like this. However, I'm still REALLY looking forward to Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, and Tron Legacy has become my #1 Most Anticipated Film of 2010, so I'm not entirely faithless in terms of Disney's recent films (heck, Race of Witch Mountain wasn't half bad compared to the stuff Disney was churning out pre-late 2008; and yes, i did enjoy that film). I just hope that, like with Bolt (which I went to see with my older godsister in RealD) and Enchanted (which I heard was fun, but have yet to see it), the majority of the reviews for this film will prove me wrong. I hope you guys can understand.

So, anyone else thinking the same thing?

That's where you're wrong, Cheshire. I'm not expecting much from this film, really, and I fear it may not get that good of a reception in general. I was thinking the same thing about Bolt and Enchanted, and look how well THOSE turned out to be. Besides, like i said, i might be just a little disenchanted with Disney to begin with. I've been like that since Lilo and Stitch *shudder*.

I think your main problem is that you expect this film to be as good as something like The Lion King or some other Disney classic. Personally, I'm just glad that Disney is bringing back 2-D.
