How would you like a Christmas movie with a side order of horror? This week, you get exactly that when
Robert Zemeckis’
A Christmas Carol and
The Fourth Kind hit theaters. I’m not sure which I’ll end up seeing or if I’ll skip both and see
a certain indie movie instead, but in the meantime here’s what I’m watching:

A Christmas Carol
A Retelling Done Right

Scrooged – If there’s one thing that I love more than a movie starring
Bill Murray, it’s a CHRISTMAS movie starring him. It’s a humorous take on the TV industry just as it is a modern take on the classic tale, and it’s one of my favorite movies to watch regardless of the time of year. And I whole-heartedly agree that Charles Dickens would’ve wanted to see nipples. Who doesn’t?
Carrey as Christmas

How the Grinch Stole Christmas – Before you erupt into madness, hear me out. I really like Jim Carrey and I really love the Grinch, but I HATE this movie. Now you ask, “Then why are you watching it?” Because I honestly hope that by watching this shit stain,
A Christmas Carol will be great no matter what. Of course, this would mean several hours of torture, but it may end up being worth it.

Dumb & Dumber – I’m sure you’re staring at the screen oddly at this very moment, but I assure you that the connection is closer than you think. You know Carrey’s character Lloyd? His last name happens to be Christmas. What it boils down to is this: I love this movie and any opportunity I have to talk about it I’m going to take. I know
Dumb & Dumber lives up to its name, but it still gets me every time.
Wildcard

The Polar Express – The past has showed us that Zemeckis is a huge fan of horror films. However, within the last few years, he’s not only displayed his love for motion capture (agonizingly so), but also for Christmas flicks. This is a great one, starring
Tom Hanks as a conductor on-board a train to the North Pole. It took the book and created a world beyond it that was absolutely amazing. The movie’s adorable and I cried LOTS.
The Fourth Kind
**Be sure to check out Broad of the Dead this week for
“Based on a True Story” tales!**
Starring Milla Jovovich

The Fifth Element – Oh man, how this movie is a guilty pleasure! Filled to the rim with flying cars, aliens, awesome guns and a drag queen via
Chris Tucker, there is really little to not like about this film. Sure, its plot is all over the place, but this is really meant to be watched for entertainment value. Guys will be especially happy to see Jovovich in little-to-no clothing and kicking some serious ass!

Resident Evil: Apocalypse – Despite disliking the first film, I really enjoyed the second film in the
Resident Evil series. The action sequences and plot are just a hair better than the first film’s, and the greatest additions are undoubtedly
Mike Epps, who brings the much-needed comedy, as well as Nemesis, the terrifying villain of the game series. If this movie’s on TV, I’ll more than likely watch it for a few laughs and lots of fun.
Wildcard

The Prophecy –
The Fourth Kind co-star
Elias Koteas stars in this classic horror flick about a really terrifying battle in Heaven that manifests on Earth. Former priest-turned-cop Thomas Dagget, played by Koteas, is the only man that can stop Hell from breaking loose as he goes head-to-head with the fallen angel himself, Gabriel (
Christopher Walken). As much as this movie is genuinely clever and funny, it’s absolutely terrifying, especially when
Viggo Mortensen rears his ugly head.
