Guys thanks so much for the review. I watched the movie before listening and then again straight afterwards with my girlfriend & a couple of bottles of red.

I loved the shit out of this film and Im glad you brought up more points that made me re-visit it.....I feel bad im only 20 miles away from Paris and dont go there enough!

I really can't get behind this movie at all, maybe because I really don't like romantic comedies. I agree with much of what you guys say but this as the number one movie of the year, yeah, no.

@Henriksen,

I'm with you completely. Almost an hour in and I turned it off. So damn boring. Just a bunch of chatter from historical figures that I don't give a damn about. Even the person watching it with me thought it was crap and had no had problem saying so. I'm generally not a fan of Woody Allen and if it wasn't for Match Point, which is great, I'd dislike him completely. I totally disagree with anybody who says this movie is one of Allen's better films

I really enjoyed this film.  As you guys said, Allen romanticizes the time period of the 20's in Paris.  Full price if not more.  But, as a black scholar, I would have loved to see more mentions of famous blacks in Paris at the time other than the faux cameo of Josephine Baker.  Hate to Spike Lee it up and say Allen purposefully withheld the great Black writers or artist of that time that were in Paris as a result of American stupidity, but to allude to the "golden ages of Paris and not mention the great impact of the refuges from the Harlem renaissance is a little offense and quite historically inaccurate.  But thats just the black me talkin.  I wonder how Corey and Leon feel about it.

Listened to your review and I enjoyed this movie as well. It started off slow for my taste, but it picked up at took off. My biggest problem with it was the ending seemed extremely truncated. A lot of things seemed to have been taken for granted, that Owen Wilson would end up with who he ended up with, that he would actually move to Paris one surmises to continue his midnight excursions, which would kinda fly in the face of the moral of the film, not to glorify the past. I also wanted to see Michael Sheen's comeuppance, there was NO payoff for putting up with him. HE should've been the one running from the Versailles palace guards, not the detective. Other than that, it was probably the best cinematic diversion this summer has produced yet.
