If it's crap... We'll tell you

Q

Michael Bay: Joke's not on ME, tis on YOUR ass!

People must be getting fucking tired of Transformers and Michael Bay talk...but I think what I got compiled in here is a little bit different.

When we look at guys who are experts at fucking around with society in general, and mocking them at every turn...we think Sacha Baron Cohen, George Carlin, or Stephen Colbert. But did anyone know that ole' Michael Bay has accomplished something alone those lines as well...!? Let us take a look:

I'm not gonna analyze every single one of this dude's movies...but at the very least, we can say this: Just about everything he makes hits the box office. He gives people what they want: Explosions, Steve Buscemi, explosions, Megan Fox, and even more shit blowing up. And best of all, he offers these elements during the summer movie season...where, as you might guess it, what people want out of their movies is of course, explosions, Steve Buscemi, explosions, Megan Fox, and even more explosions.

You ask, he delivers. Sort of... And that's the biggest joke of it all. Personally, like old man Carlyle here, I too am a Michael Bay fan; I too, like seeing explosions for the sake of them being explosions. However....here's the big question...if you guys hate him so much....why haven't you learned your lesson?

The recent racial controversy surrounding Bay and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen shed some light onto the whole situation with the relationship between Bay and moviegoers:

"Listen, you're going to have your naysayers on anything. It's like is everything going to be melba toast? It takes all forms and shapes and sizes."

When you think about it....that quote isn't very Bay-like at all. While he certainly isn't Uwe Boll, Bay is also the kind of guy who jumps onto the insult-wagon. He'll either retort on how "awesome" his movies are, or drop a bomb on a critic or two.

"We're just putting more personality in. I don't know if it's stereotypes _ they are robots, by the way. These are the voice actors. This is kind of the direction they were taking the characters and we went with it."

And that's the one quote that sold me... Bay could very well just be fucking with us, which I believe is a whole lot more effective than dropping bombs or C4 in certain situations. Honestly, people don't like to see their own ugly sides. No matter how much distaste you show for Borat or Ali G, the real reason why you tend to hate on the character is naturally because it's something of a personal reflection... You realize what you're surrounded by, and what's deep inside. In a similar sense, Bay accomplished the same thing.

People these days don't let themselves have fun. No matter what movie they're going into, they have unrealistically high expectations. On too many occasions, they WANT the movie to be bad; they wait for the tiniest, most trivial flaw for the sole reason so they can boast "I knew this movie'd be shit!" And in the same sense, many people are simply far too sensitive on far too many matters, and take the term political correctness in completely unnecessary territory.

I dropped my 10 bucks to see Revenge. I saw the Retardo-Brudda-Bots, hell, even the brass cojones, literally speaking. Fucking stupid? Sure. Not needed? Definitely a waste of space. Did it make me wanna bust out my pump-action? Um, why again?

So they're stereotypes, and then what? There were testicles too, yet, did I scream for my money back? Fuck no; I sat through the whole damn thing, and took responsibility for my action. You see, I've learned that insignificant details are insignificant. As in...there's no reason to get worked up over them. Getting pissed over the Buscemi-Bots is no different than getting pissed over this:

"OMG! Gigantor!? It's totally OBESE! I can't be watching this filth!"

Or...

"WHAT'S THIS!? Deathscythe HELL!? I DEMAND this be taken off air so my children ought not watch this Devil's heresy after a session of Bible study!"

See the point? Political correctness is one thing....but getting offended over ROBOTS...that's a territory of utter nonsense in and of itself. And when I look at things from a different perspective...maybe Bay decided to put those in for that very sake. I know I like to experiment and fuck around with people to get interesting information out of them...but I can't help but feel that Bay's idea of "good, clean fun" is nothing but fun for his senses only. Nothing is more rewarding than trying to piss off a certain crowd only to meet with complete success.

It's definitely possible that this was just Bay's retarded sense of humor failing epically....but at the same time, he's also shown himself to be a relatively intelligent guy, capable of catering to the senses. Maybe it was time for him to cater to his own senses?

I'm not really a Michael Bay fan and I haven't seen this movie (nor will I unless I get it on Netflix or Redbox in the future on some drunken bored night). Chances are I wouldn't really be offended by the robots because from what I have seen they are just too stupid to be that offensive.

The thing I find odd is I think a lot of people on sites like this will watch movies that the are panned just so they can get in on the conversation about why the movie is so terrible. It's like being one of the club. They go to the movie just so they can say they saw it and why they hated it.

Addendum:

Comparing Bay to Cohen ought to be some form of blasphemy.

That said, you might be right, lol.

I couple jive-talking robots don't offend me anymore than Jar Jar Binks did, which isn't a lot more than an eyeroll and a shrug - "Okay, I guess this is where we're going, got it." However, these movies are fucking retarded. If that's what you like, then god bless, man.

I didn't see them as black or white ....I saw them as robots...to say they are stereotypes? ...I know both black and white people who actually act like these robots.... I cant stand to talk or be near them...it is offensive to me that they just act like fucking idiots....and that's what these robots were... they were fucking idiots..that's the reason I hated them not because they acted like stereotypes of this race or that race...they just sucked giant dirty assholes....BTW there was a couple of cool parts in that movie but not enough to say the movie was good as a whole...the transformers brand needs new writers and a new director

Zgamer: I didn't overlook or overshoot anything here; if it had black dudes doing black stereotypical stuff, then sure, enough grounds for the overly sensitive idiots to get offended. But robots? It's outright moronic to get pissed off by that.

And like I said, and will say everytime...Bay caters to the senses when the senses are yearning. During the summer movie season, what do people what? Now, tell me what kind of movies Bay makes for that season...

Exactly. It irks me when people pay to watch something, especially since these days, they watch it with expectations, then get pissed off and play the blame game. If you paid for it, then you'd best take your share of responsibility for funding further projects.

Oh, and you say he's an intelligent guy capable of catering to the senses, but please show me when he's ever catered to people outside of the "Oh my gosh that car totally blew up that's awesome" crowd. His only real attempt at that was The Island and even then it was very shallow in it's science fiction concepts and ideas, especially since they're completely thrown out the window in the second act.

I think you overlook the fact it's not the fact that it has people doing black stereotypical stuff, since heck those guys do it in every single black comedy made in the last 20 years. The offensive part is how unfunny the stereotypical stuff is in the movie. They don't even try to make the characters likable or clever in the way they do all the racially offensive stuff so all it's doing is allowing two voice actors repeat a bunch of stupid lines for no reason than to say the lines. That's the truly offensive part.

Honestly, the past week on spill it's all just been transformers is garbage, michael bay is offending everyone blah blah blah. I haven't seen the movie, now if you didn't like the first one, you aren't going to like this one. I also agree with Condor, there are lots of people here just repeating what the spill crew have said. Im gonna see it because me as myself an individual free thinking sentient being want to see big robots on big screens with big explosions and Megan Fox, why you ask? Because sometimes i like to sit and be entertained by that stuff.

as a white guy, who isn't going to see this movie until tonight... I'm more upset about how stupid the characters look this time out. everyone has wheels for feet or no feet at all. these two idiots are obvious "wigger" characters who would fit right at home on the show Trailer park boys.

Will I find it offensive after i view it... not likely, will I still think it is stupid. certainly - but seriously guys looking like a duck and talking like a duck doesn't make you a duck when you're a robot in disguise. The said in the last movie that the character's learn to speak from the internet. i'd be more upset that this kind of shit still exists in the world, than i'd be that some fake robots from a fake planet were stupid enough to find it and think it was cool.
