Megamind

Featuing voices of: Will Ferrel, Tina Fey, Brad Pitt, David Cross, Jonah Hill

Director: Tom McGrath

Main character that looks like smurf with elephantiasis of the head? Ok Dreamworks, I'll roll with you. You did give me Kung-fu Panda and
Monsters vs Aliens. Now you've once again fart out another passable
animated comedy with a star studded cast for the fall season. Enjoyable
in its familiarity, but its impressive effects and A-list cast are just
hiding the fact that Megamind picked the pockets of several other movies
before it.

Before his planet is destroyed a young alien boy is sent to Earth (Superman) Also a neighboring planet has sent one of there kids to earth as well. Which begs the question, if there
are other planets with aliens that look like us, why send the to this
crappy rock. If there were an intergalactic community I fell like Earth
would be like the eastern Europe of the universe. Don't go there unless
you know someone, but I digress. So these to aliens become rivals
(that's from Despicable Me) Then the bad guy becomes the good guy (Darth
Vader? The Grinch? anyone? Bueller?) There are some laughs, and the 3D
is good but not groundbreaking, and then the credits roll and you leave
the theater satisfied but you could have gone for a little more.

What I liked most about this movie was the complete and utter satire of the superhero genre. The death rays, corny banter between rivals, Will Ferrel give delivers a killer c@#kpunch with
his Marlon Brando impression. I wasn't pissing my pants but it did make
me chuckle. When I saw the trailer I thought it would be garbage, but
it more than exceeded expectations, and yet it could have been so much
more. That being said it gave Due Date an ass whipping in the box office
pulling in $17.3 million more for a grand total of $46 million. I guess
Zach Galifanakas' beard isn't funny anymore.

Final Score: 3/5
