McHale, Ribisi join Seth McFarlane's 'Ted'

Source: Deadline

'Community' star Joel McHale is the latest actor to sign on to the live-action film 'Ted', written by 'Family Guy' creator Seth MacFarlane. The film has been picking up steam in the last few weeks, with actor Giovanni Ribisi signing on, and both uber-hottie Mila Kunis and actor Mark Walhberg in talks to star.

Walhberg would ostensibly be playing the main character of the film who just wants to marry his girlfriend (Kunis), who refuses to wed until he does something about his best friend Ted - his childhood teddy bear that magically came alive during a childhood wish and has since become an offensive womanizing lout. Giovanni Ribisi will reportedly be playing a man who becomes obsessed with Ted, while McHale has signed on to play Kunis's sleazy boss.

While the storyline seems pretty obvious - Wahlberg and Kunis fight, McHale swoops in, Ribisi kidnaps Ted, and it all works out in the end after Ted and Wahlberg's character pull together and help each other out blah blah blah - what makes this really interesting is that it's Seth MacFarlane at the helm (who is known for his snarky and rude non-human characters) and that they're aiming for a "hard R" rating. Having seen what he's capable of on a semi-family-friendly channel like Fox, one can only wonder how far he'll go when he's actively trying to push the limit.

Yeah, it's pretty much Unhappily Ever After, except you just have Mila Kunis instead of Nikki Cox. By the way, I miss that show.

Does this remind anyone else of Unhappily Ever After?

when this movie comes out, im gonna play the Ted Drinking Game. take a shot of Jack Daniels everytime there's a cutaway joke, a dead baby joke, a vomit joke, a joke that stretches longer than 4 minutes, and anytime Conway Twitty shows up

Sounds good, I'll give it a shot.

So this is going to be kind of like Calvin and Hobbes except Calvin's would be played by an ex "rapper" and Hobbes would be sexist asshole teddy bear. I'm game.

@Cinema Dr. AJ

You see, I had this whole speech that I was gonna type up here, I was gonna be mature and level-headed about the whole thing, and I was gonna try and make you see the error of your comment.  But, since I love Family Guy, and I apparently couldn't possibly have an IQ above -35, so I couldn't possibly do such a thing as contend with an intellect such as yours because you watch South Park instead, I'm just gonna call you the fucktarded douchenozzle you are, tell you to shut the fuck up, and be done with it.

...And by the way, I love both Family Guy AND South Park.  Mind=Blown yet?

looks like we have another john k on our hands: he had limitations when he made ren and stimpy for nick, but when he got the freedom he wanted,...........let's just say it was weaker and less charming than his family friendly material. i just hope this doesn't happen with seth

Well at least McHale will be doing some film. That's always good...I wish he could take a role in some epic historical movie or something. Guy has major talent.
