David Lindsay-Abaire who won a Pulitzer in 2007 for his drama, "Rabbit Hole," is in final negotiations to write Spider-Man 4 according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Harlan Ellison couldn't save this franchise. Marvel is going to end up buying back the rights to the X-men and Spider-man.

@ Tyler, Power Man is also known as Luke Cage right? Um, I'm pretty sure they're considering making a film about him, starring Tyrese.

Back to the subject, I think Spidey 4 will have a lot of potential. They basically have their villains set up, and now the studio knows to let the director do his own fucking job and not listen to what the studio has to say after seeing how spidey 3 came out.
And now we have someone new, so maybe this will boost the potential for spidey 4, and our anticipations to see it. ^___^

According to you, MattThornton, Spidey 4 will be The Phantom Menace of the lot.

Jason, Spidey 3 was sloppy. And definitely does not deliver on the dramatic promises made by the first two movies.

Hopefully this guy will do something different rather than the same old Peter enjoying life>Villian arises>Peter has dilemma while fighting villian>Peter beats villian and lives happily ever after formula.

ok, i usually try to be careful to not get too excited for a movie, but that's just cool. I have not seen Rabbit Hole, but by finding an artistic director, Spider-man 4 could move in a direction that has not been seen in a superhero movie before. i think somebody should take risks with lesser known heroes, such as Power Man or something, and let it be directed by a traditionally independent film maker. there is nothing about a superhero movie that means it has to be superficial and a summer blockbuster. so a big kudos for taking a creative risk here

First off, number 3 was awesome and definately the best. So what spiderman danced, it was showing what was going on with him. And spiderman 4 is a great idea b/c now they brought in that lizard guy (Peter's professor)

It could work, this series has nowhere to go but up anyway.

The first Spider-Man films followed the same formula as the Star Wars Trilogy. A brilliant first film, an equally brilliant perhaps slightly better second film, and a slightly weaker but satisfying third film.
As long as the original cast and crew returns, I'm happy. Spider-Man is still my #1 Hero!

Boy, I sure hope this turns out to be awesome. I really do. I've always liked the idea of getting unknown writers, directors, ect, to make a highly known blockbuster.

All I can say is "good luck". Who knows how these things will turn out in the end...
