Lila Dit Ca
Which basically means what Lila says is a French film by Ziad Doueiri. This is a coming of age story about two inner city teenagers as the engaged in flirtations and what I call the ultimate tease story. Things that are really good about this film are how Ziad Doueiri always sets up good shots and the chemistry between the two leads is very amazing to watch. Vahina Giocante is such an amazing actress in displaying her goods, and Moa Khouas is a good bumbling and sympathetic loser that falls for her. Note that this was shot in 2004 so around the time when muslim hating was starting to peak or peak even higher who knows, I’m not trying to start riot here. That being said I commend Ziad Doueiri for showing this kind of film especially about a minority group in France, and how they go about living. This film displays lots of instances of class divisions, so when I watched it, it was very touching since I’m a minority and all. The ending was really good, not going to spoil it for you. This film is a coming age story like I said earlier I recommend this highly for people who just want to see a love story but more for teenagers or young people who are lost at what they’re doing in their life. This film is very similar to American themes found in films like “The graduate” or even “The Last American Virgin.” I highly recommend this film also as artistic viewers who enjoy lush scenery and symbolic visuals. Watch it, if you can.
