Let's Do This! - June 28, 2009 PT. 2
As promised here's the second half of our two part 'Let's Do This!'. In cased you missed the first half it's posted down below, along with more art from our members. This half includes more celebrity death talk, the difference between Billy Mayes and Vince Offer, Mudflap and Skids, a really funny segment about a fried chicken video, and email.

We interrupt your regularly scheduled 'A Couple of Cold Ones' to bring you a very special 'Let's Do This!'.
That's right. So much happened this month that this week's recording went on for a hefty 3 1/2 hours long - lenghty enough to split the show up into two parts. So what could we possibly have talked about for almost four hours? Well, let's see... there's the heat here in Texas, old people who die form the heat, we address the whole racial issue surrounding the Transformers characters Mudflap and Skids, another sad fried chicken video ('Fry that chciken, fry that chicken!'), we cover the recent celebrity deaths of Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, Ed McMahon, David Carradine, and Billy Mays, and we do much reminiscing about the King of Pop. Just what will be covered in this first half of the show? You'll have to listen and find out. Look for part two this upcoming Wednesday.

Comment by Dante16 on July 8, 2009 at 10:38pm - Is Len really asking that question? Alec Baldwin's joke wasn't saying all Filipino Women are mail order brides. It was just a small insignificant joke. He even said something about Russians do you want to bite on his ass for that too? Transformers is a big movie that is being played in several theaters not only in America but in several other countries as well. This is bigger than just a snide remark. Alec Baldwin is just a man, Transformers is a big fucking movie that almost most people will probably see eventually. Not everyone watches Letterman. Especially kids. Kid's will see transformers 2 movie and will laugh at these 2 offensive robots blatantly making fun of the black stereotype. Just thinking about makes my heart hurt.

On the "I saw/know/spoke with/didn't spit on another Black person who thought this [insert racist bullshit here] was okay therefore ALL Black folk should be okay with it" assumption. There were Black people who were okay with slavery. There were Black people who were okay with Jim Crow and thought folks participating in the Civil Rights Movement. So I, Korey, Leon and every other Black person in America should be chopping cotton for free and enduring all sorts of daily degrading humiliations pounding into our heads that we are subhuman and inferior because THOSE Negroes were okay with it?
You can always find a person of color with tons of internalized racism who will co-sign onto some bullshit for a pat on the head from White folks. Hell, Clarence Thomas got a lifetime job out of doing just that, but most self-hating Blacks will just settle for a pat on the head. So don't think any of your self-hating Black finds are at all unique or special. Just understand that many of us are NOT going to go along with racist bullshit because they will.

Was well worth listening to for 3 1/2 hours, thanks guys for giving me something to do on a dull summer day. Adult Swim still has some good stuff during the fall Co-Host with Boondocks, Venture Brothers and your fav Metalocalypse but looking at it 90% of their stuff now is crap, guess I'll just buy those three shows on DVD.

Hi Korey,
In a past episode of LDT, in which you had Cyrus and Leon as guests, you guys defended Alec Baldwin making light of Filipina stereotypes in the form of mail-order-brides.
You guys suggested that it was okay for Alec Baldwin to make fun of the Philippines in this manner, since this issue was a reality, and that it would get you multiple hits on the web. For good measure, one of you added: “fuck you Philippines”, when certain sectors of Philippine society found Alec Baldwin’s comments offensive.
Now it seems you are offended by the black stereotyping as displayed by two robots in Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen. These sterotypes, prevalent or not, can be considered a reality, and could garner multiple hits if Googled on the web.
My question to you is: To you and the LEOG team, why is the black racial stereotyping in T2:ROTF offensive, and the stereotyping of Philippine women not? Were there some points that you guys mentioned on both these issues that I missed?
I hope for a good answer, and not one along the vein of an all-encompassing: “fuck you…”.
