While most of the world revolted when news hit that Keanu Reeves was being pursued for the role of gang leader Kaneda in the forthcoming US adaptation of 'Akira', new reports say that the actor and his representatives have passed on the role, and that negotiations have stopped entirely. You hear that? If you listen closely, you can hear the sound of angels singing.
Reeves joins Brad Pitt, James Franco, and Ryan Gosling as actors with enough sense to turn down the role, but it seems that the oxymoronic "shortlist" of actors is actually quite long, and Warner Bros. Pictures is continuing to go down it until they find their leading man. While there have been rumors of the 'Akira' pre-viz team stopping work and employees being let go, Warner Bros. is quick to dismiss them:
