With the enormous stack of money Marvel Studios made on 'The Avengers,' it was only a matter of time before some sort of development was announced regarding the long-gestating Justice League film. DC's version of the superhero super team, The Justice League finds the likes of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Green Lantern, The Flash, and Martian Manhunter (among others), joining forces to combat Earth's greatest threats. It seems that last year, Warner Brothers hired screenwriter Will Beall ('Gangster Squad') to pen the script for the massive cinematic undertaking, though he has yet to hand in a draft. But now that Beall is one of Warner's favorite screenwriters (tapped to write both their 'Lethal Weapon' and 'Logan's Run' remakes), The Justice League film seems to have gotten a major push. However, a start date is not expected to be announced until after Beall's screenplay is completed and approved.

Uh, this is so frustrating. Here we have an update that is barely an inching forward when we should be hearing about Warner Brothers taking giant strides to set this thing in motion. I understand they are still a bit nervous about the changing of the Batman guard when Christopher Nolan departs, but for the love of Luthor, we've been hearing whispers of a Justice League film for going on five years now. We know they're going to be rebooting Superman next year with Zack Snyder's 'Man of Steel,' and 'Green Lantern' has had his, albeit dim, moment in the cinematic sun, so that just leaves, for all intents and purposes, Wonder Woman and The Flash to earn their standalone flicks before this should realistically occur. I'd like to see a Martian Manhunter film, but I don't see the studio rolling the dice on a solo outing from either him or Hawkman. Oh, and let us not forget Aquaman...even though I often do. In any event, they've had a writer on this for a year with no results so hopefully his new-found clout at the WB will give Beall the motivation necessary to get us out of the starting gate.

What do you guys think? Are we any closer to seeing a Justice League movie now that 'The Avengers' is a reality? Do you think they'll give the remaining members standalone movies beforehand?

I can't wait for the Justice League movie! Superman is my favorite superhero of all and I would love to see Gina Carano play Wonder Woman. That would be outstanding!

i would love to see a JL movie, but the story needs to be solid because thats where Avengers failed and fell flat. yes, avengers was a fun time, but step back and look at its story and plot. it sucked. another villain wanting to take over the world. my experience with DC's animated movies and what the batman movies have done; the story is key and a shining point. if they want to do better than marvel's avengers, they need to have a good cast and interaction with all of them, AND nail it with a good plot that has dimensions to it.

Honestly, I think they'll have to create a mythos separate from the JLU or the DC comics because both have already been fully explored in animated movies.  To pull off a separate JLA movie mythos, you'd need someone skilled who can control a multi-picture epic.

Say what you will about Avi Arad but he was the point man for that; DC has maybe Geoff Johns and I don't think he wants or can shoulder that kind of cinematic weight.

DC justs needs to slow it down a little and put some effort into producing a solid movie that doesn't involve batman. Nolan can't carry them on his shoulders forever. Get some good stand alone movies done with other Justice Leaguers and pray your next Superman movie will be the shit. Nobody wants to see a thrown together justice league movie with no effort involved. They'll make tons more money from putting in alot of effort than producing the next John Carter piece of crap that'll piss off the fanboys.

As for justice league. Do a redo of batman like theyre doing with spiderman. Make the newer batman with no origin story, and make him more of an asshole than C. Bale's version, you know like all the animated films make him.  Don't do a wonderwoman bc as much as I would like to see it I think it will be just like Green Lantern. Big as she is, she isnt as big as batman or superman. Then just do the justice league film right away if and when you get really good writers and such. And pray Henry Cavill is a badass superman, which I think he will be.

Gina Carano for Wonderwoman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know the only reason she pulled off Haywire was bc she was teamed up with a former mossad guy as a coach instead of an acting coach. But I think that only she has the physicality to even pull it off out of anyone else out there.

Marvel have taken their time to set up their Avengers continuity, I don't think DC can even spell continuity! The sad truth is this project may happen but I'm sure it'll be a train wreck!

I was re-watching the Justice League Unlimited series over the weekend and noticed that they introduced almost every League member without having to do an origin story.  Most people know who Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman are - they've been on TV as cartoon characters for years.  Heck, many kids saw the Green Lantern movie and wondered why he wasn't black like the guy in the Justice League cartoon.

DC doesn't have years to do setup movies - they need to do a Justice League movie NOW.  Use the Big Three (even if it's not Bale's Batman they can just put someone in a Bat suit (classic, current movie version or even the New 52 look) and give it a go).  The important thing is putting together a good cast, good script and pick the right director.  That's what made the Avengers work.  Did anyone get upset because you had a 3rd actor playing the Hulk?

Plus what if Superman flops or they do a Flash or Wonder Woman movie that under-performs like Green Lantern did - do they have to wait for another remake? (that can push it out 5 years or more...)

Just go ahead and do the Justice League movie...

DC can't even get a good solo movie working for anyone except Batman, yet they're trying to go ahead with a team-up anyways? They need to properly introduce these characters to the audience first, then worry about a Justice League movie. Actually instead of jumping to that, they could just have Superman and Batman (maybe Wonder Woman) team-up first and then put in Flash, Green Lantern, and Martian Manhunter. Save anyone else for a sequel.

I think for a Justice League movie they'd just need Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman for the first one then expand on the league from there.
