The purposed fourth installment of the 'Jurassic Park' franchise remains one of those somewhat ephemeral projects that we've been talking about for years, but has never actually manifested into anything. This year there has been a lot of chatter from the filmmakers involved with the project, but sadly (or maybe happily depending on your view of the necessity of another film), it is still struggling to get out of the gate. Producer Kathleen Kennedyrecently had this to say about how this latest beast is progressing...
"Writing, writing, writing. It's really hard to keep these things going when there's an expectation and a desire by the public and the audience to keep certain franchises going. As filmmakers, we often sit there going, 'Okay. We have to answer the question, 'Why do another one?'' If you can't answer that question, you shouldn't be doing it. It's tough. We're trying to come up with a story that makes sense and isn't going to disappoint people and is, hopefully, going to get people excited and reinvigorate the franchise. We've got to start with a script and the story."
I guess it's encouraging that so much time is being taken on the script for 'Jurassic Park 4.' Part of the problem with 'JP 3' is that it felt so rushed that there were chasms of logic being leaped over by the characters. However, as much as it should be, my primary concern with the new 'Jurassic Park' is not the script; it's the effects. The first 'Jurassic Park' featured some of the most stunning digital effects I've ever seen, and not only do they hold up to this day, they actually trump the effects in plenty of movies made even a decade or more afterward. Now that 3D is becoming a standard, and the 48fps technology may become more prevalent by the time 'Jurassic Park 4'is finished, my hope is that there won't be a mad rush to "update" the effects to make the dinosaurs look more "in keeping with modern movie-making tricks." Not sure who I'm quoting there.
What do you guys think? Will 'Jurassic Park 4'ever get off the ground? Do you want it to?

Comment by CHEEZYSPAM on October 1, 2012 at 12:52pm 1st was friggin' "epic" (and I hate using that word to describe anything),
2nd was "meh", a big let down from the 1st (but the city rampage at the end was fun)
3rd was actually very decent despite it being the least successful of the 3.
4th? Dinos wat r u doin? Dinos.... DINOS! STAHP!
Comment by Jensen Ex on October 1, 2012 at 9:49am I've never liked the "gore" in these movies. They hardly show deaths and when they do they're not really brutal which is funny seeing how this is dealing with raptors and t-rex. I'd wana see more carnage. They need to move focus away from the old characters and make a new story and possibly try to make the film more mature.

Comment by Zgamer on September 30, 2012 at 2:03am @AACRO I would totally love for them to do one of his other books too. While Next may not have been my favorite Crichton book, it has a story that with a little tweaking could make a great movie. Heck, I'd love for them to say "Screw the last movie" and adapt Timeline again because that was one of my favorites by him and it deserved more than that clunky piece of turd adaptation. It would be refreshing to see more of his work adapted.
Having said that, if they could do a good job with JP4, I would be happy too!
Comment by Lux ThE iNsAnE TeDDy BeAsT on September 29, 2012 at 9:08pm Iv had this idea in my head for a while now.How about the dinosaurs all start migrating into other islands populated by people,or maybe a city. This causes a wide panic in the island(or city) and we have 2 hours of dinosaurs causing havoc. At the end they can come up with with some excuse saying that the dinosaurs migrated because of a climate change in their islands due to global warming.Add a cheesy speech from John Hammon at the end saying that humans should be more light dinosaurs and just live with the earth instead of destroying it,roll credits.....the end
i would give this movie a matinee
Comment by BLAM! on September 29, 2012 at 5:22pm Come on guys I already thought of how it should be
Dr. Grant and Dr. Malcolm end up on some kind of cruise.
They meet eachother and are like "You were here O_o I'm getting bad vibes"
THEN SUDDENLY!! There was a big storm and the ships gets beached on an Island.
Malcolm and Grant start looking around and the both come upon a T-Rex footprint.
Malcolm and Grant = FUUUUU Faces
Footrpint= Troll Face
TITLE CARD JPIV
Done and everything else can just be more dinosaurs chasing people and T-Rex RAOR and Velociraptor Dolphins.
I don't even consider whether any of the the movies are actually good or not I just see them as theme park rides. Though yeah 1st one still holds up pretty damn well and is the best out of the lot.
They gotta go back to Site A where all the stuff went down in the first place sheesh I wanna know what that island looks like now it would be really nostalgic.
I had pie
Comment by Godzilla on September 29, 2012 at 4:18pm I LOVE Jurassic Park. It's one of my all-time favorite movies and I really want to see this film come out REAL SOON!
Comment by AACRO on September 29, 2012 at 2:57pm personally they should do just adapt another Michael Crichton story like Next or Micro.
Comment by Fernando Palacios on September 29, 2012 at 1:42pm as long as they are telling an interesting story I would go to see it
