If there's one thing that I find incredibly embarrassing about watching most japanese horror films or american remakes of japanese horror films it's the jump scares. My experience watching the grudge might have been similar to most people's, might have been different. In my experience I jumped in my seat. Alot. I wasn't so much scared, uncomfortable or terrified. I just hopped in my seat. Some movies like Evil Dead make you feel extremely disturbed or movies like Saw just make you uncomfortable...japanese horror films make me jump. I fucking hate that. There's nothing more embarrassing while watching movies like that in theatres than jumping at a scene and no one else does.
The worst thing that happened to me while watching the first Grudge was watching it late at night, sitting on my metal uncomfortable chair next to my bed. When I jumped at whatever scene with the asian kid popping out or something I fell backwards and hit my head on the metal bed spread. Fuck Jump scare movies.
A lesson to the wise, when watching any horror film with asians with long hair, nail your ass to the ground.
