I first saw this film back around the 90's when I was a kid, and...WOW, I just loved it and it is a favorite of mine. It was around the time in my life where the animated films I started to see were being taken more seriously for their potential. A time were animated films weren't all about happy-go-lucky like anymore along with the inserted music singing stuff here and there. Serious, compelling stories were being told through animation in films. Stories that made you feel for the characters and the stories are just all fun, relatable, memorable, and just down right good or even great movies. The Iron Giant is one of those films.

The Iron Giant is set in 1957, the fifties, a time of beatniks, Elvis, atom bombs, and all those other things daddio. Hogarth Hughes, a single child being raised by a single parent, his mother (who if I was older would have thought was HOT), discovers an Iron Giant that has fallen from space. The Iron Giant suffered a concussion(which is just a dent on his metal head) from the crash and therefore can't remember where he came from. Hogarth and the giant become really close friends and Hogarth tries to keep the giant secret to keep him safe so he can have him as a friend. However, the towns people soon become suspicious and now the government becomes involved and this is where the story picks up in where Hogarth has to keep the iron giant safe and hidden.
This movie has just the right amount of comedy, adventure and drama to enjoy from start to finish. It is something you can talk about with friends and a good movie you can take your kids to which you don't have to suffer at all!
Surprisingly, this is also the best movie Vin Diesel has ever done!

(Forgive me if this review does not seem to be that enticing. It is my first review.)
