Yesterday it was announced that Michael Bay is definitely returning to direct 'Transformers 4.' That announcement came courtesy of Bay's producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura who also let slip that the fourth installment of the giant robot franchise would be a reboot. Today, some de facto casting news has surfaced thanks to franchise star Josh Duhamel. At last night's launch party for Sony's PS Vita, Duhamel told E! that he would not be returning for 'Trans4mers,' and seemed fairly certain that no one from the original cast, or at least the cast of 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon,' would be returning either. Here's what he said...
"I don't think anybody's doing it. I know Shia [LaBoeuf]'s not doing it. I don't think Tyrese or Rosie [Huntington-Whiteley] or anybody else is doing it. Whenever these movies make that much money they're going to make as many as they can. I haven't heard anything about it. They haven't called me."
At first glance, this would be shocking news, and Duhamel seems put off by not having been called. The fact remains however that, according to Di Bonaventura, the newest Transformers film will be a reboot of the franchise. Reboots often involve entirely new stories with entirely new casts of characters so the fact that they wouldn't be bringing back characters from the first three films is not surprising. I'll be honest, I liked Josh Duhamel in the first three films and I'll be sorry to see him out of the fourth installment. However, I'm not going to pretend that the idea of a complete absence of Shia LaBoeuf in 'Trans4mers' is not a huge enticement for me to see it. So the question now becomes, how will the story be revamped to inject new life into the franchise?
Any ideas from our trusty Spillios?

Comment by NemesisPrime909 on February 16, 2012 at 2:07pm All I want is some actual focus on the robots, more simplified designs, Less focus on Bumblebee, and actual dialogue with the decepticons rather than just grumbling gibberish. That to me, actually makes your villains threatening. rather than just 1-dimensional metal monsters
One final thing, if they do have Peter Cullen return, please, Please, PLEASE, let him voice Ironhide
Comment by Obed Casillas on February 16, 2012 at 1:59pm It's still being directed by Michael Bay so I expect the same kind of movie it's been so far.
You know what? I don't care really care. As long as Bay doesn't touch Beast Wars he has yet to rape my childhood.
Comment by Ratchet on February 16, 2012 at 1:11pm I think not being in another Bay film is good for anyone's career. :|

Comment by Knight7sk on February 16, 2012 at 12:58pm Both him and Tyrese got better as the movies went along but they were HORRIBLE in the first... at least their dialogue was.
Comment by Cab on February 16, 2012 at 12:57pm Lol, pretty much C.H. Gorog
Comment by I Am Spartacus on February 16, 2012 at 12:50pm I find his statement quite open-ended. "They haven't called me." What does that mean? Does it mean that I definitely won't be doing another one even if they call me, or does it simply mean that they haven't called me with a big enough number yet?
Wait a minute .... why am I applying actually thought to this. The movie is going more than likely going to suck anyway. A half decent first film and two 'Fuck You' sequels.
Comment by Kyle Roger on February 16, 2012 at 12:49pm Glad their not casting Shia Labeouf, now they can write the role for some other talented young comedian about to make a bad career choice.
