Since the first rumors of Nolan's upcoming "The Dark Knight Rises" starting hitting the internet, one name has been consistantly tossed about - Joseph Gordon-Levitt ('Inception', '(500) Days of Summer').
Well guess what, fellow fanboys? Today's our lucky day.
Deadline NY is reporting that Gorden-Levitt is currently in talks to join the cast in an unspecified role before the film begins production this spring. This announcement has once again fueled fan speculation as to his possible role, with everyone from Hugo Strange to Deadshot being suggested.
We want to hear from you Spillios, though - who do you think he'll be playing? (remember, Nolan himself has already debunked any rumor about The Joker or The Riddler appearing in his film, so both those characters are out of the running)
When asked how the script could possibly top 'The Dark Knight', Nolan's longtime cinematographer Wally Pfister had this to say:
Along with Christian Bale reprising his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman, the third entry in Nolan's Bat-trilogy also stars Tom Hardy as Bane, and Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle. When asked in a recent interview at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival whether we would see Selina Kyle in her Catwoman persona or just as herself, Nolan simply smiled coyly and wouldn't say a word. Normally tight-lipped about his work, that silence may speak volumes or it could just be Nolan having fun with the fans. He also stated, "We've worked on [the script] a long time - (screenwriter) David Goyer and myself. We're about 12 weeks away from shooting." which would put the start date for the film somewhere around mid-May.

Thanks:) I appreciate you saying that.
Dear Who was that Masked Man You have posted the best post i have seen in this thead (coughoutsidemyowncough) ever. You actually made an argument with.. points. Thank you for that. I mean this seriously.
Thank you for approching logic as your waypoint instead of preference.
With that in mind.. I am a purist. Nolan's movies, by his own words, will not have Robin in it. Nolans stories is not of a good Batman. Not of a pure Batman. Not in the slighest.
A good Batman, even a great Batman, will have Robin in it. I look forward to that day... However..
That day exists outside the Nolan universe.

I do.
Richard "Dick" Grayson can be mature. Put him in an armored version of the red robin outfit with a hood on the memory cloth cape. It goes up when he flies in the air above the criminals as Batman's "wingman", making him look like a giant bird, and it stays down when he fights. Make him a disciplined disciple of Bruce, but keep his sense of humor. He doesn't let death intimidate him, but he still takes his role as Batman's partner seriously..
If they do a story about Robin joining Batman in Nolan's world, first they'd need to take Gordon out of the equation. Not kill him or anything, but put his job on the line, and have him be suspended indefinitely(at least 'till the end of the movie), or have him framed for a crime he didn't commit. You also need to present Dick as a reminder of what Bruce could've become if he'd held onto that anger and gotten to pull the trigger on Joe Chill.
People, all people, good and evil, are afraid of Batman. Robin needs to be the good cop that does the things Batman won't be able to do.
SCENARIO: A group of kidnappers steals a child and is going to kill him when the exchange goes wrong. Last minute, Batman and Robin take out the thugs. Batman goes to get the kid out of there, but he freaks the hell out (reminiscent of New Frontier). But it's Robin that diffuses the situation, and calms the kid down. Kid's traumatized enough as it is. He doesn't need Harvey Dent's "murderer" manhandling him.
Robin is the one that can go outside in the daylight and take on the thugs that think they're safe in the sun. Robin is the one who proves to Batman that what he does is all worth it. Robin is the future Batman. Even if it won't stick in the books, and it won't, it's still the natural progression of his story, and the most realistic outcome he can get to.
I don't think you're wrong about the change in tone to Robin in a Nolan film, but I also don't think it's impossible
Comment by James O' Niel on February 6, 2011 at 10:08pm @bc1canty You DO know that Nolan made it clear SEVERAL times that Robin WILL NOT be a character in the final film.
If Nolan himself confirmed this, why walk down with this idea?
