Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Reps Denying He'll Appear As Batman In 'Justice League'

Who knows what to believe anymore, right? As soon as something looks like it's a sure thing, the rug can be so cruelly ripped out from under us. Such is the case with a story that was making the rounds a couple of days ago regarding who would play the new Batman in the mammoth superhero collaboration that is Warner Brothers' 'Justice League.' Less than 48hrs ago, one source seemed pretty confident, having talked to someone at WB, that Joseph Gordon-Levitt would be playing the caped crusader in the JLA movie. TDKR SPOILER AHEAD! This would of course make sense considering where his John Blake character ends up at the end of 'The Dark Knight Rises.' It was said the first introduction of Gordon-Levitt as Batman would be a cameo in Zack Snyder's 'Man of Steel.' Now however, JGL's reps are vehemently denying that he will be playing Bats at all. 'Justice League' is scheduled to hit theaters in the summer of 2015.

I can't really make heads or tails of this whole situation. On the one hand, if the reps themselves deny a rumor, then that should be enough to ensure that rumor is thoroughly debunked, but why so vehemently deny a rumor that represents something so monumentally positive for their client? Methinks the publicist doth protest too much. It would make complete sense that JGL would be the JLA's Batman. Warner Brothers is still smitten with the Christopher Nolan universe incarnation of Batman and Gordon-Levitt was presented in the ending of 'TDKR' to be the one taking up the cowl. Not to mention the fact that we're on the doorstep of 2013 and very little is solidly in place for this enormous superhero undertaking set for 2015. The original report actually indicated that JGL would be playing Batman in a solo piece even before 'Justice League,' but that seems to have been debunked now as well. Ok then, industry peeps. If not Joseph Gordon-Levitt, then whom?! Let's get something concrete on paper, because right now I have serious doubts as to whether this thing is going to be able to effectively come together.

What do you guys think? Bummed JGL won't be Batman in 'Justice League?' Do we believe his reps denial? Do you still believe they'll be able to get this thing out by 2015?

JGL is awesome, but I want that to stay in the Nolan universe. Do something new with Batman, but, let him be Bruce Wayne, and not "Robin".

UM IF they want to do ANYTHING like the Avengers then they have got to start getting their crap together, I am sorry BUT there will be NO JLA if they dont have someone make a appearance in Man of Steel..... I agree with Proto though, I hear the train coming BUT I am going to sit here and watch this WRECK happen cause this is going to be awesome. I mean DC cant be trusted for anything, they killed the award winning Young Justice without even telling the shows writers and they have started, and cancelled, A LOT of projects or they just dont go through with making good quality movies.... i.e. green lantern, Jonah Hex, Cat Woman, SmallVille, Bids of Prey..... I mean I can go on if anyone needs anymore convincing.

Not bummed at all.  He was great in The Dark Knight Rises, but after watching The Dark Knight Returns Pt.1 and Batman Year One recently (and currently rereading The Long Halloween), I'm hoping Hollywood can get someone of similar build and tone who relies on his wits (and is a little wreckless) as the graphic novels and not some well-known actor buffing up a little for the role with the character relying too much on a suit of armor.

As good of an actor as JGL is, I don't think he would work well in the cape and cowl.

Right up till I see it my self, or the whole spill crew gives it BTS, I'm convinced JLA will be train wreck anyway

I don't know why The Spill crew would be so surprised on this one? The most current buzz was that the new interpretation of Batman would make his first appearance in JL and from there pending on its success we'd see his standalone films come after. The idea of an appearance of Batman in the new Man Of Steel is hardly a thought at this point IMO.

I like JGL but I'm old school and want my batman to be Bruce Wayne not some cop that hates guns so decides to dress up as batman. Bruce Wayne is Batman! I did like Dick Grayson taking over but that was way different than this. I like The Dark Knight Rises but it had so many problems and I'm ready to move away from that.
