Producer Joel Silver (Die Hard, The Matrix series) is planning a reboot of Swamp Thing, an obscure DC Comics character that has previously been adapted for two feature films and a short lived live action television show. The folks over at Empire caught up with Silver at a recent junket, where they got this:

"It's a movie we've [Silver Pictures] had for a long time. We think we'd like to do it in 3D."

The character was created by Len Wein and Berni Wrightson, but saw a Renaissance when famed comic book writer Alan Moore (V For Vendetta, Watchmen) took the reins of the series. In the film world, Wes Craven's 1982 Swamp Thing and it's sequel The Return of Swamp Thing proved difficult to find mass appeal and has left the character dormant for many years.

What do you think about a reboot of Swamp Thing? Is Joel Silver the right man for the job? Should it even be done?

Yeah hans, you obviously know more about comics than I do. Hey, if such an expert as you dismisses a multiple award winning series like Moore's Swamp Thing as "gay" well than I guess the whole damn blogosphere should bow down to you and force somebody to give all those Eisner awards back.

AVP? Really. Well, okay. I guess maybe "gay" means something altogether less pejorative when coming from you. We'll agree to disagree on this one.

and the sad thing is most people like you guys just take their words for granted, Imao i was literally watching a fan of watchmen watching the watchmen film, lol and i could tell he was forcing himself not to enjoy it like any other normal person............you know why? its because he believed every word alan moore said. honestly some of you fanboys need too stay home and read your comic books while letting the normal people go see the movies. (or just shoot yourselves in the head and save us the trouble)

i actually thought the first fantastic four film was fun, and i thought the second one was alto better, but most of these reviewers seem completly clueless, AVP got horribly bad reviews but if you actually watch it the movie is fucking amazing. the same with watchmen.

hey beau i probably in fact know more about comics than you do, and yes i relize that their alto of movies are made from some sort of source material (like the matrix) what i was saying (and i figured some random idiot was going to shout out online lol) just about every movie now is an adaptation of some kind. and yes i have read alan moores swamp thing and the fantastic four comics and their both very much gay.

Maybe. But it would have to be done in a really surreal style to capture the feel of the series. I think a very talented horror director using multiple techniques might come closer to hitting the mark.

Hey Beau, Do you think that Swamp Thing could be done well as maybe a long-running animeted series like HBO tried with Spawn. I'm kinda skeptical but i'm interested to see what you think because the comic seems to be close to your heart brutha.

3D? aww man...

I'm getting tired of 3D. It only enhances the theater experience, not make it good, esp. when the movie is already crap. Then, it'll be crap in your face.

Another thing to piss off Alan Moore.
