Jessica Chastain Joins 'Horizons' Opposite Tom Cruise

Source: Deadline

Actress Jessica Chastain ('The Help') is in negotiations for a high profile gig opposite Tom Cruise in 'Horizons' - the sci-fi action film helmed by 'Tron: Legacy' director Joseph Kosinski. Originally picked up by Disney under the title 'Oblivion', the film (based on Kosinski's graphic novel of the same name) was dropped after 'Legacy' failed to live up to studio expectations. Universal was quick to pick up the project, and redubbed it 'Horizons' (which is reportedly just a temporary title as well, so expect another title change before it hits theaters).

The film centers around a decimated future Earth where the surface is polluted and full of roaming predatory aliens while all of humanity lives high above the planet's surface in massive sky cities. Court martialed and disgraced, a lone ex-soldier (played by Cruise) roams the surface scavenging parts and ancient artifacts until he discovers a beautiful intruder inside a crashed spaceship and his world changes. The film has two central female characters - the intruder and the main protagonist's wife - but there's no word on which role Chastain is up for.

I'm really liking this actress...although I'm not sure this is the kind of movie she should be in...She is better suited for dramas in my opinion.
