Jessica Biel Committed To 'The Making Of Psycho'

In 1960, Alfred Hitchcock's landmark horror film 'Psycho' was released and became an overnight sensation. Recently it was announced that a biopic was in the works detailing the production of this legendary film. So far the cast assembled includes Sir Anthony Hopkins as Alfred Hitchcock, Dame Helen Mirren as Alma Reville (Hitch's wife), James D'Arcy as Anthony Perkins, and Scarlett Johansson as the iconic Janet Leigh. Now it seems Jessica Biel has caught the 'Psycho' bug too as she has just committed to portraying actress Vera Miles; the classic film's second female lead. 'Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho' will be directed by Sacha Gervasi ('Anvil! The Story of Anvil'). No word yet on when filming will begin.

I'm still really looking forward to 'Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho,' even if the title is a bit cumbersome. As a huge fan of Hitch, the idea of a film that peeks behind the scenes of the making of the movie seems tailor-made for me. I'm sure there will be those out there who hate on Jessica Biel, but I think she has great poise as an actress and fantastic screen presence, as did Miles. I can easily see her in this role. Besides, Vera Miles wasn't in 'Psycho' nearly as much as Janet Leigh so even if you are not a fan of Biel, you can console yourself that she probably won't be the focus of this biopic. I would however like to know which actresses Biel bested for the role. Incidentally, if you are interested in learning more about Hitchcock in the interim, I would highly recommend tracking down the documentary 'Dial H for Hitchcock;' very informative, thoroughly entertaining.

What do you guys think? Are you interested in this project? Any Hitch fans have a strong feeling one way or another about Biel's casting?

I love behind the scenes type movies as long as they don't spin fiction whole cloth like "The Buster Keaton Story" and other fictionalized histories.  I'd look forward to this movie.

I heard a rumor that the movie Citizen Kane is on some kind of list that contains movies which aren't allowed to be remade. If that's true, then why isn't Psycho on the list?

Do we get to see Scarlett Johansson in a black torpedo bra like the one Janet Leigh wore in the movie? If so, I'm in!

I'm with Joseph Trochez. I just saw "Psycho" last Saturday and now I'm very interested in this movie

I always thought Biel would have had great success in more actiony/tomboy roles akin to Michelle Rodriguez but she never became all that big of a star because she did everything but that and nothing really worked for her.
