Jack Black Is All Kinds Of Creepy On New 'Bernie' Poster

Richard Linklater has never been what you might call a conventional filmmaker. From 'Dazed and Confused' to 'Slacker' to 'A Scanner Darkly,' his films are always a bit hard to classify. So I guess we shouldn't be surprised that he's taking on a dark comedy based on the supposedly true story of a man who murdered an 81-year-old woman and then had to go to great lengths to convince people she was still alive. The film is called 'Bernie' (no, not as in 'Weekend at Bernie's' though I understand how that could be confusing given the plot synopsis) and stars Jack Black in the lead role. 'Bernie,' which co-stars Matthew McConaughey and Shirley MacLaine, was actually filmed right here in central Texas and Linklater held a charity screening of the film a few months ago to benefit the victims of the Texas wildfires. The first poster for the film has just been released and seems hellbent on convincing us that we should all keep a very safe distance from Jack Black. Take a look a the poster below and let us know what you think.

'Bernie' creeps into theaters April 27th

Yeah, it doesn't look like it'll be the same obnoxious kid-friendly Jack Black. The guy is best when he's unrestrained and I think he can make this premise work. (Though School of Rock is a good movie)

I am really happy to see Jack Black trying something in a slightly new direction, because at this point he needs that to try and keep himself respectable.

I hope this isn't another Jack Black movie where he plays Jack Black.
