J.J. Abrams' upcoming sequel to his 2009 'Star Trek' reboot is quickly becoming one of my most anticipated movies of 2013. Getting the whole cast back, adding Benedict Cumberbatch as the villain, and now possibly bringing original Trek universe legend Leonard Nimoy back into the mix? Initially, it had been announced that no 'Star Trek: TOS' cast members would be featured in 'Star Trek 2,' a major disappointment for fans of the 2009 film, in which Nimoy played such a critical role. But recently, in an interview with CNN during Space Shuttle Enterprise's NYC flyover, he was asked whether he would be appearing in Abrams' sequel. His answer was enigmatic, but intriguing...
So, they're "talking." Of course, what we must consider here is whether Nimoy is referring to an actual negotiation for his return to Abrams' 'Star Trek' franchise or if he's simply being artfully elusive. However, I've never known Leonard Nimoy to be anything but honest in these situations and don't see why he wouldn't have just politely said, "no" if he weren't actually in talks to come back. In addition, Nimoy did visit the 'Star Trek 2' set back in January, so it's possible his visit inspired a new discussion of his involvement in the sequel. Again, this is by no means confirmed, but how great would it be to once again see OG Spock on the big screen next year?
Do you guys think Nimoy's legit when he says there's talk of his return? Anyone want to argue he shouldn't be in the sequel?

I would like to see old-Spock marking up a map of the quadrant, pointing out planets best to be avoided...or helming a meeting with a team of scientists discussing how to genetically re-engineer some humpback whales.
Comment by The Tourist on April 30, 2012 at 1:56pm I thought his purpose for being in the first was to bridge the gap between the reboot and the original series, giving it legitimacy. I would rather the second film be free of ties like this and let it be its own thing (Wasn't that always the original plan??)
Comment by SpikeGhost on April 30, 2012 at 1:12pm if he does this then he might accept to come back during the final season of Fringe. That would be awesome.
Comment by Absinthe Minded on April 30, 2012 at 1:09pm Not to be mean, but why bring him back? Abrams did a great job of shoehorning him in at the end of the last one, but it would seem kind of forced to do so again. I hope he'll stop dipping into the nostalgia pool and just make the second movie 100% former Star Trek-free.
Comment by AndrewWILLSONThe ShogunOfAustin on April 30, 2012 at 12:51pm I think it would be really cool if the goot all the orinal cast in the next movie, maybe just shaitner and nimoy. I think it would be cool if the made a refanice to next geration or have patrick stewert pop in.
