J.J. Abrams' upcoming sequel to his 2009 'Star Trek' reboot is quickly becoming one of my most anticipated movies of 2013. Getting the whole cast back, adding Benedict Cumberbatch as the villain, and now possibly bringing original Trek universe legend Leonard Nimoy back into the mix? Initially, it had been announced that no 'Star Trek: TOS' cast members would be featured in 'Star Trek 2,' a major disappointment for fans of the 2009 film, in which Nimoy played such a critical role. But recently, in an interview with CNN during Space Shuttle Enterprise's NYC flyover, he was asked whether he would be appearing in Abrams' sequel. His answer was enigmatic, but intriguing...
So, they're "talking." Of course, what we must consider here is whether Nimoy is referring to an actual negotiation for his return to Abrams' 'Star Trek' franchise or if he's simply being artfully elusive. However, I've never known Leonard Nimoy to be anything but honest in these situations and don't see why he wouldn't have just politely said, "no" if he weren't actually in talks to come back. In addition, Nimoy did visit the 'Star Trek 2' set back in January, so it's possible his visit inspired a new discussion of his involvement in the sequel. Again, this is by no means confirmed, but how great would it be to once again see OG Spock on the big screen next year?
Do you guys think Nimoy's legit when he says there's talk of his return? Anyone want to argue he shouldn't be in the sequel?

Comment by SpikeGhost on May 5, 2012 at 4:53pm it wouldn't be surprising if Leonard Nimoy returned for Star Trek 2... He returned to Fringe for yesterday's episode after he said he was retiring... so YEAH!
Comment by Jack68 on May 1, 2012 at 4:33pm How does Cumberland look anything....like ANYTHING........like Ricardo Montalbahn. I mean it is like casting Robert Downey Junior as Kahn.....full respect to the actors......but this is still supposed to be connected to the original movies....so he still should look something like Ricardo

KAHN!! KAHN!!
Oh come on! Khan again! Why couldn't we have had something new or a surprise!
Comment by Happy Birthday Roboto on May 1, 2012 at 6:48am Oh for goodness sake, JUST RETIRE ALREADY!
Comment by Cjail on May 1, 2012 at 4:58am The more I see the original actors the less I care about the new ones.
@Nikhil Sunil
Also re-using Khan as villain will only make me love Ricardo Montalban more and care less about Cumberbatch.
Comment by MavenCree on May 1, 2012 at 12:29am Maybe he'll just be in a computer communication or a recording or something. Given who the senior Spock who had become by this film, I think there's no way he wouldn't have told Star Fleet about, the Borg or some of the other threats. He was past that whole Temporal Prime Directive thang. So maybe the Enterprise runs into something and they're checking Spock's testemony about it. Like, just a cameo appearance.
I really shouldn't speculate when it's this late and I'm this tired.... I ramble...

The torch has already been passed in the first movie. Now it's time to take the touch and run with it. While I would like to see Leonard Nimoy again, it's time to move forward.
Comment by Ferry2dead on April 30, 2012 at 8:32pm WHY? They don't have enough of a story so they need him to bring in people to see the movie. Stop pussy footing around with who is going to be in the movie and MAKE THE FUCKING MOVIE!!
Well I sure fuckin hope so.
