"Ink" is a science fiction fantasy film that was written and directed by a guy named Jamin Winans.
The film tells the story of a young girl named Emma who's consciousness is kidnapped and taken into a dream world by a mysterious creature called "Ink" which leaves her body in a comatose state. The forces of light, beings that give us dreams are in a war with a group called the Incubi who give the living nightmares. We follow a group of people belonging to the light on their journey to rescue Emma and her father, John who plays a vital role in the safety and return of his daughter.
This by definition is ambitious film making.
When I first watched the trailer I must admit I was skeptical. Viewing it I thought to myself "Obviously low budget film and quite possibly too ambitious to be any good" but nonetheless I found myself quite intrigued and I of course had to watch the film.
Now, I don't want to break down the film entirely because I don't to unknowingly persuade anybody to not watch it because I think if your a movie geek this film is a must see.
The acting is a real hit or miss at times but when it is good, it's gooood.
The story, the visual aesthetic, the fight scenes are the film's strongest features.
Its a story that I personally have never seen done.
And the visuals fit the tone that the director was trying to project which is always a must.
The fight scenes in this film are great for this independent film. Interesting choreography and they're very intense.
I don't think many films warrant re-makes BUUUUUT I honestly cannot wait until this film is picked up in the future and re-made with a larger budget and I can only hope that this Jamin Winans' guy is brought back on because I would love to see him work on this film with a budget that can match his ambition.
I know this is quite vague on quality but I'll leave you the trailer if it leaves you feeling curious at all then my best advice is to go with that feeling and WATCH THIS MOVIE.
Happiness is difficult to define and even harder to measure. We experience it as a combination of elements, in the same way that one wheel or spring inside a watch doesn't keep time - it is a result of the synchronicity of the whole. As a relative...
Congratulations, you bitchy Evangelion fanboys, you got your movie. Evangelion 1.0 is probably one of the most faithful movie adaptations you'll ever get (or at least one you'll bitch the least about). It follows the original story, makes no dras...
