@ David Bowie

There were a couple of good ones, not many but some.

1) Star Trek
2) I love you Man
3) The Hangover
4) Up
5) Watchman (Not Great but Ok)
6) Taken
Plus the year isn't over yet....

Saw this last night, and I was entirely disappointed. One of the reasons I go to 3D animated movies is to see the medium evolve. For example, every Pixar movie (and most Dreamworks movies) pushes the technological limit in some way. Like the fur shaders in Monsters Inc, or the stretch techniques for Elastigirl in The Incredibles, etc. However, I can set aside my animator tendencies and forgive bad animation if the story is good.

Ice Age 3 could have just been Ice Age 1 as far as I could tell. They used the exact same snow effects, the same hair shaders, etc. It's like they just didn't care about taking it another step. Then, from an animation standpoint, it was horribly animated. The fluidity and Tex Avery-like cartoon quality the first one had are all but missing from this movie. It could just be any other random 3D offering out there, and that's no way to make a dent in the box office. There were times when I found my inner animator screaming. Poorly composed shots, unnecessary action, a very weak plot (to sum it up: it's a poor Shrek 3 with Dinosaurs).

Basically, if you have kids you'll probably be required to take them to see this (there's really nothing else out there for them in theaters), but be prepared to groan and grumble your way through it. I guessed I've been spoiled by some of the better animation companies out there, but this movie just feels like they were out for a quick paycheck and didn't care at all about advancing the series, telling a good story, or even bothering to improve their craft.

Jason, why shouldn't we expect engaging stories and good characters? I pay $11 every time I go to the movies, so I don't want to just waste a couple of hours sitting in a dark, noisy room.

Hey everybody, I was just thinking: Now that a remake of Clash of the Titans is coming, I was thinking about a remake of Jason and the Argonauts. I think there could be, if Clash is a big boxoffice hit. What do you think.
