I Can't Take It Anymore.

Fuck the Academy.

I was looking at the nomination list for the Oscars and I see many problems.

1. How the fuck did "the Reader" get a nomination for Best Picture instead of "the Dark Knight" and "Gran Torino"? I never thought the Dark Knight was worthy to win Best Picture but I and 99% of us Spill Members believe it was worthy for a goddamn nomination. "Gran Torino" was an amazing film, that put a cherry on top of the sundae that we know as Clint Eastwoods acting career. I'm not saying "the Reader" was a bad film but it was nowhere as good as the other two.

2. Why is Sam Mendes nominated for Best Director and not Christopher Nolan? Obviously Nolan had the harder job of the two and had the better outcome.

3. I know not a lot of people will agree with me on this but I am very mad that Clint Eastwood was not nominated for Best Actor. Like I said before this film was the perfect ending to his acting career and the Academy should have recognized his performance. Looking at the list of nominees the only actor who I think doesn't deserve the nomination as much as Eastwood is Sean Penn.

4. Dev Patel was also snubbed by the Academy when he was not nominated for Best Supporting Actor. Instead of Patel being nominated Downey Jr. was and as much as I loved Tropic Tunder and Downey's performance Patel deserves the nomination more.

5. Why isn't 'the Dark Knight' not nominated for best Adapted Screenplay? And why was 'Hellboy II: The Golden Army' not nominated for Achievement In Makeup. This just shows how the Academy still will not accept comic book movies completely.

One other minor complaint is that Kate Winslet was nominated for 'the Reader' and not 'Revolutionary Road' where I believe she put up a much stronger performance.
