The Good
Super 8: J.J. Abrams directs while Spielberg produces? This could literally be inner city girl doing double dutch in 3D and it would bring in 80 million it's first weekend. But it's about some kids filming a movie who happen to capture footage of a derailed train that unleashes a supernatural entity on an unsuspecting town. Check out the trailer before it opens on June 10th. Super 8 Trailer
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2: The final chapter in what has become the motion picture phenomenon of the last decade will most like set records at the box office. (Hey Twilight, you might want to take notes on this before your movie comes out.) The all out battle for the wizard world opens on July 15th, but you can see the trailer here Deathly Hallow Part 2 Trailer.
Bad Teacher: Cameron Diaz helps kids get better test scores so she can get money for a boob job. She's a bigger patriot than Captain America. This raunchy comedy might do to education what Bad Santa did to Christmas. Opening June 24th, but see the trailer and form your own opinion. Bad Teacher Trailer
Captain America: The First Avenger: "Wait you want me to go fight the Nazis with a bright blue outfit on and nothing but a shield? And everyone else gets camouflage and machine guns? Screw this, I'm out." He's probably not going to say that but expect a bunch of plugs for the Avengers movie. That being said it looks promising. Opening July 22nd see the trailer here. Captain America Trailer
Warrior: The bad guy from Star Trek: Nemesis has to fight Owen Lars from the Star Wars prequels in this sci-fi epic. Just kidding it's actually a drama about two brothers who are cage fighters. Expect The Fighter but with more blood and cracked skulls. Full of violence and emotion see the trailer before it opens September 9th. Warrior Trailer
The Bad
The Green Lantern: Ryan Reynolds plays Van Wilder if he were a fighter pilot who ends getting a ring that gives him super powers. Then he fights a guy with elephantiasis of the head and an evil yellow cloud. Green Lantern opens June 17th.Green Lantern First Trailer
Cowboys & Aliens: Jon Favreau's half baked concept of an 1800s Arizona town comes under siege from hostile alien invaders might do well if they have two things. A translator that can speak growl for Harrison Ford, and someone to remind Daniel Craig that no one back then was that pretty. Cowboys & Aliens opens July 29th. Here's the trailer Cowboys & Aliens Trailer
Transformers: Dark of the Moon: The third installment of Michael Bay's trilogy can only go up from the dismal Revenge of the Fallen, Alien robots jumping around and blowing things up will always look cool in short clips. Lets see if explosion junkie Michael Bay can generate some characters you can care about. This movie hits theaters on June 29th, but you can check out the carnage here. Transformers 3 Trailer
The Ugly
Mr. Poppers Penguins: Jim Carey returns to his old comedic styling that got old after Liar Liar in this adaptation of a classic children's book. It's not impossible to make a kids movie that doesn't make you want to hurt yourself. If Ace Ventura had sex with Dr. Doolittle the resulting movie would be more interesting than this. This pile of penguin shit opens June 17th but check out the trailer here.Mr. Popper's Penguins Trailer
Zookeeper: It is a cinematic fact that if Kevin James is the lead in a motion picture, it's going to be crap. The story of a fat loser who gets dating advice from the animals he's been looking after. Yea I'm sure we'll be seeing that up for some Oscars next year. Opens July 8th. If you want to make yourself mad, you can piss yourself off by watching the trailer here. Zookeeper Trailer

Comment by Grim Ripa on June 6, 2011 at 1:00am Kieran - Thanks for your input and for not jumping down my throat because like some of these Spillios for liking Bad Teacher. I've been wrong about movies before (Based on the trailer I thought True Grit was going to blow) In regards to Harry Potter, I've loved what they've been doing with the movies each one is better than the next. I did have issues with Half Blood Prince about the "big twists" and they certainly have their work cut out in this last film. Either way it's guaranteed to set records.
As for the comic book flicks, I'm pretty excited about Captain America I just hope they don't spend two hours beating the audience over the head with plugs for the Avengers movie. In Thor they managed to organically insert hints about it, and I hope it carries over. I know next to nothing about Green Lantern's source material outside the basics, but the trailers have been showing my a digital diorama with some corny Reynolds-esque jokes thrown in.
C & A looks like it will be fun, but nothing ground breaking. Nothing about that trailer made me say "OMG must see!!" As for the Transformers trailer it's just robots destroying cities. I've seen that.....twice. Yes it looks exciting but (and this goes for Cowboys & Aliens too) I got the gist of both movies from two minutes of clips. Compared to the Super 8 trailer which leaves you thinking and chomping at the bit for it to release in theaters.
As for everything in the "Ugly" section, you took the words out of my mouth lol.
Comment by Kieran McKiel on June 5, 2011 at 6:20pm Super 8 - Holy jeebus I'm excited for this movie.
Harry Potter - I'm not the biggest Potter fan, but I am interested in seeing how it ends.
Bad Teacher - This doesn't even look "meh", it looks "MLLEEEEEEGHHHH"
Captain America - Again, not huge on the source material, but it does look kind of cool, I think.
Warrior - I've never even heard of this, sounds interesting.
Green Lantern - I really hope this is a case of false advertising, because the trailers make this look like crap and it does seem like it at least has a cool premise and neat visuals going for it.
Cowboy And Aliens - Another one I'm excited for! The premise is dumb as hell, I realize, but damn if it doesn't look like silly fun anyway.
Transformers 3 - After recently re-watching it, I've come to the conclusion that I actually do like the first one, but the second was a crime against cinema. Not sure what to make of this one.
Penguins - KILL IT WITH FIRE
Zookeeper - KILL IT WITH MORE FIRE
Smurfs - MORE FIRE KILL IT WITH MORE FIRE
Comment by Grim Ripa on June 5, 2011 at 5:25pm Yes, I think Bad Teacher will be funny.
No, I don't think anything in the Bad column will be a bad movie, I just wasn't impressed by the trailers. Transformers is just more of the same old robot destruction. Let me see Shia Lebouf playing a character that isn't annoying.

Comment by thejon93rd on June 4, 2011 at 10:36pm Disagree with 'Cowboys & Aliens' and 'Transformers' in "The Bad". I think that both trailers are strong; while 'Green Lantern' looks like generic "been there, done that" crap.
'Cowboys & Aliens' looks like a whole lot of fun. 'Transformers'... I was surprised by how much I liked the trailers I've seen. I don't know if Bay's a marketing genius or what but this trailer makes me want to see the movie up there on the big screen (and it will be the first-time I've ever watched a 'Transformers' movie in full)... plus, it comes out on my birthday so... kinda hoping for the best if I decide to check it out.
