I been a fan of the walking dead since I heard about it on a podcast (think it was LDT) they talked about how the walking dead was going to become a TV show. All I heard for months on spill was how the walking dead was one the of the darkest but greatest comic out right now. So I decided to get the first book from the library and I was hooked since the first issue.
The thing that got me hooked in that first issue was the characters Morgan and his Son Duane and how they helped Rick and they were good people. After reading book after book of the walking dead I forgot about the characters Morgan and Duane. I got to like other characters but after awhile they got killed off but most of there deaths didn't effected me, I saw characters I knew become evil most of the time it didn't effect me, Hell I even saw the Governor that did fuck me up but not as much as issue 58.
Spoilers!!!!!!!!
After watching the first episode of the walking dead and seeing Lennie James performance of Morgan Jones. A question popped in my head I was thinking if Morgan was still alive? Was he still with his son? Did he ever go to Atlanta? Did Duane's gameboy run out of battery? Then in issue 58 Rick Carl and Abraham go back to Cynthiana to get more guns and ammo, This is not the only reason Rick went back to Cynthiana he wanted to check up on Morgan and Duane and when he does I was excited to see them after this long. Like in the first issue rick gets hit by a shovel this time he knows Daune hit him he looks up and sees Morgan instead and this is what I saw.
Before
As soon as I saw this my jaw dropped and I put the book down and just thought to myself. What the hell did I just see? I picked the book back up and I read some more and all I could say was just wow. In all that time since we last say them on Christmas it was complete madness Daune got bitten and Morgan got him chained up in the house, He ran out of food so he had to resort to cannibalism. My world just turned upside down when I read this the only little hope of happiness I had left in this fucked up series was gone and now I hope to god that there never be a zombie apocalypse.
The next day I went to school in the time I was not taking notes in class, talking to friends or flirting with chicks all I could think of was what the hell just happens to Morgan. All day this happened every hour I would have a new question to ask myself. Was Morgan going to eat Rick? Did Morgan communicate with Daune like everything was normal? Did Morgan every try to kill himself? For two days straight this happened. I didn't know how emotionally attached to these characters I was. They were in only one issue and one special and that is when I knew that Robert Kirkman is one of the greatest comic book writers in my opinion.
That is how the walking dead changed my day were there any characters you felt this attached to in a comic,TV show or movie?

Comment by PirateLordBush on December 20, 2010 at 10:37pm That's how i was too, man. I kind of forgot about Morgan and his kid for a while, until that happens. It was sad seeing one of the nicest people Rick's met in this new world got fucked up so badly.
This was a great first blog man, you just missed a coma every now and then, but it's pretty good.
