I just want to say that, I did not hate this movie; I simply see things I would do better. Oh yes, I’m talking Hot Tub Time Machine, the latest from Steve Pink.
I know I am going to be a little random, but when I saw that the director was a
guy named Mr. Pink, I had a Reservoir Dogs flashback. Now after visiting this
guy’s IMDb page, I see that he directed one of my very very very guilty
pleasures, Accepted (Justin Long, scrumptious Blake Lively, and pre-Superbad
Jonah Hill), and I know see how he got John Cusack to do HTTM, Pink was a
writer for High Fidelity (I’ll explain why that annoys me). And not only is he
from Chicago,
he went to high school down the road form me. I don’t think this was a brother
helping a friend out, but I can see why he chose this. I don’t know how this
rambling is coming out, but as far as I saw it, I could have chosen a different
way to do a lot of things, but if he saw this, I don’t think he would be mad.

You know what angers me? The fact that High Fidelity is my favorite Rom-Com and it is one of my favorite movies. And when I see John Cusack act the same way that
he did in High Fidelity, I either feel reminiscent of the old movie, or I get
mad because I feel he can’t get out of the cycle of the same cycle. Well, I have
to say that we get the same character, but I had to feel a little bit of both
of those former feelings. But I kind of wrote off his same performance because I
was seeing something new from him, and I was also mad at him for 2012. I will
sound like a broken record with the following statement, you will not hate this
character, you won’t connect with him, because we’ve seen this an umpteenth
billion time. But John Cusack acts up to the level of his role, and for that I have
to pat him on the back and say “good job sport!”

With this film you get what you pay for with Rob Corddry, you get his comedy, you get the way he delivers it, and you get the insane-ness that he gives off. Now I went into this film knowing who Rob Corddry
is and I’ve seen him on The Daily Show, and I am a huge fan of Children’s
Hospital (his online show). What I like about this guy is that you don’t have
any surprises with him, he’s not like Dane Cook in Mr. Brooks, and he does his
comedy the same way. I can respect that. His character in this movie, is like I
said, is not a difference from the ones he’s played in so the past. So i'm not
mad, I am actually in the middle. Because it’s not like I was expecting an Oscar
winning role, so I came out happy.

Like I said about Rob Corddry, I will say about Craig Robinson. I’ve seen him and loved him as the warehouse foreman in The Office; I love how he plays that role for the little time he gets. And I have to keep reminding
myself, CHICAGO IS A HUGE CITY AND HAS A LOT OF PEOPLE, put before this guy
went into show business, he was a music teacher at Horace
Mann Elementary
School in Chicago,
and I have friends that went there. Okay, okay, that’s behind me, Craig
Robinson plays an extremely likeable guy and a lot of people will attach to,
and for that stipulation, I think the got the right guy for the right role. What
gets me mad here is I’ve seen this guy with really funny material to act with, I
mean he’s coming off of The Office, the comedy is rich there. I wish he could
have gotten better jokes, or simply better writing. There’s times when I wish
that the character would have said something different then he actually said. But
all in all, when the movie ended, I was wishing he had better material.

Clarke MOTHERF!!KING Duke, he is in that elite class with Jesse Eisenberg and the Michael Cera, of the comedians who prefer to use the SAME TONE throughout the ENTIRE F!!KING MOVIE. Now I have to throw a guy a
bone because he always has funny smarmy stuff to say, and he was in one of my
favorite Rom-Coms of last year Sex
Drive. And to keep it short, he has that same
smarmy humor here.

I want to have a small this is what I saw sidebar. The chick that Cusack ends up with is the MEGA HOTTIE Lizzy Caplan, and she gives me a hard one because she’s hot and SHE WAS IN MOTHAF!!KING
CLOVERFIELD!!!!!!! And I was fine with Chevy Chase;
I kind of wanted him to get back to his set of Community.

And one of the writers here is Sean Anders, this also kills me because, he contributed to my favorite comedy of this year, She’s Out of My League.

All in all, this movie didn’t get me mad, but I would have done a whole lot better. 6.5/10
