David Milch, executive produce of Deadwood, has signed on to script the adaptation of the popular play station exclusive game Heavy Rain. The film is being produced by former Newline chiefs Robert Shaye and Michael Lynne.

Heavy Rain is a cinematic game that centers around the characters during a four day hunt for a serial killer known as the Origami Killer. Each character you play is connected by the killer in one way or another. As you continue through the game decisions made for one character effect the possible plans of the other three.

Because the film is still in early production there isn't any news on the cast just yet. Have any of you played Heavy Rain and if you have who would be in your ideal cast for the movie?

Hey Think what you want of Heavy Rain and its gameplay, the game as a whole was just a technical achievement. The story omitting glaring pot holes really left me and a lot of the gaming community guessing. It was extremely intuitive and if the definition of a game means an activity done for fun and/or learning then Heavy rain is definitely a game in my mind. With that being said since the game was built using actual actors and their voices, and mo-cap I say don't change a thing, and let the audience see a true translation from game to film.

I like how everyone is asking what's the point. Is there ever a point in making a video game based movie other than trying to cash in? Anyways I knew it was only a matter of time before someone decided to do this but honestly I'm surprised it took this long. How they will do it I have no idea, it will be interesting to see what they attempt. I liked this game but I liked Indigo Prophecy more.

i got a an idea... what if they just make a sequel to the game and not make a stupid movie... video game movies NEVER! turn out good.
