Has The Steve Jobs Biopic Found Its Steve Wozniak?

Earlier this month it was reported that Michael Stern's Steve Jobs biopic had selected Ashton Kutcher ('That 70s' Show') to play the departed technology magnate. While I might not have had, nor do I currently have, much faith in Kutcher's acting ability, the resemblance between he and young Jobs is hard to ignore. As most of you know, the late Steve Jobs co-founded Apple computers with Steve Wozniak. With Jobs cast, who would play the other Steve in this equation? It now looks as if Josh Gad is the lead candidate for the role of Wozniak. Gad made a big splash on Broadway in Trey Parker and Matt Stone's wildly successful musical 'The Book of Mormon.' The biopic, an independent production which is looking to shoot in Texas, has not yet made an official deal with Gad.

Ok, so now we have the flip side of the coin. First they cast Kutcher who is not much of an actor, but does eerily resemble the real Steve Jobs. Then we have Josh Gad who, while not a dead ringer for Wozniak, has proven his acting talents on Broadway. I'm not saying Gad and Wozniak looking nothing alike, and with any small amount of makeup and hair design the effect could be remarkable, but it's nice to see that this biopic isn't solely concerned with casting based on likenesses. What will be interesting to see in the film is how the relationship between Jobs and Wozniak evolves and then devolves. In the actual history of Apple, a sizable rift grew between these two luminaries, and I imagine the film will derive a great deal of its drama from their personal conflict.

What do you guys think? Have any of our Spillios seen 'The Book of Mormon?' Is it more important to you that actors in a biopic are talented or look just like the person they're portraying?

I LOVE 'The Book of Mormon'' Josh Gad is incredibly talented on stage. He reminds me of a Jack Black / Jonah Hill...but better at establishing an emotional timbre. I hope he gets this lead role! He can definitely act and make the character likeable.

I've only seen him in a few films [Crossing Over, 21, Love and Other Drugs], but he shows real talent in all of them. He'll make a fantastic Wozniak.

I would have thought George Eades from "CSI" would have made a better Steve Jobs since they look so much alike.
