For Adam McKay's 'Anchorman' sequel, the hits just seem to keep coming. Just last week, John C. Reilly signed on to 'Anchorman: The Legend Continues,' and that was on the heels of news that both James Marsden and Kristen Wiig had climbed aboard as well. Today's addition however, is monumental...as well as entirely unexpected. It appears that Harrison Ford will be joining the cast. Plot details are being kept under tight wraps, but it seems that Ford will be playing a Tom Brokaw styled older newscaster. It has been rumored of late that Ford will be reprising the role of Han Solo in some capacity in J.J. Abrams' 'Star Trek Episode VII,' but it would appear that he wants to dabble in a little comedy first. 'Anchorman: The Legend Continues' begins filming this month in Atlanta ahead of its scheduled December 20th, 2013 release date.
Ah, Harrison Ford. How can you not love the guy? I will say that he's an exceedingly odd choice for this project. Ford has appeared in some comedies in the past, but he's not an actor that one immediately associates with copious amounts of laughter. Well, perhaps I should qualify that. We don't associate him with intentional laughter. He's proven to be quite funny in recent interviews, but that's often because he appears whacked out of his mind and the humor never seems planned. My hope is that they let him be the grumpy straight man in this cast of funnymen. That's not to say he can't crack some jokes, but there's no need to make him as outlandishly silly as the other characters. It's shaping up to be a big year for Ford, in addition to this latest gig, he's got '42,' 'Ender's Game,' and 'Paranoia' all on the docket. Four movies in one year? I guess he's out to give The Rock a run for his money.
What do you guys think? Are you excited Ford is coming aboard? Do you think he's well-suited to comedy?

I love Ford, but haven't seen a film of his in years, because they're not very good. Maybe this will be good for him?
Comment by Sam Hill on March 6, 2013 at 3:28am Han Solo in Star Trek VII...trolling or poor editing?
With all the comedians in this romp, we need straight shooters like Harrison to anchor it in some reality. As with the feeling terror from horrors, if everything is funny, then nothing is funny.
