Comment by Cameron Johnson on January 28, 2013 at 2:28am Jeremy Renner has not won an Oscar... yet. Come on, guys.
Comment by Jon on January 26, 2013 at 10:09pm saw the movie today
didn't think it was awful like a lot of critics made it out to be and RottenTomatoes giving it 14% 'Alternately bloody and silly, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters fails as both a fantasy adventure and as a parody of same.', I don't agree
I found the film to be fun, dumb, gory and very action-packed, it didn't slow down one bit for me, Jeremy Renner did a decent job but yeah some of the acting and dialogue had me scratching my head, it was very odd too the little kids lost their English accents after growing up but I really noticed it with Famke Janssen near the climax, what happened? the troll I liked very much but the buddy part of the movie was very short and underdeveloped, it had bits and parts of Van Helsing minus the Universal monsters, I don't know about you guys but I barely saw any tits besides the good White Witch going skinny dipping, Gemma should have gotten topless
the main problem with the movie I found was that it was so damn short, they zipped by very fast and the third act felt like a quick car speeding
still love Gemma Arterton since Quantum of Solace :)

Comment by Longleke on January 26, 2013 at 3:31am OFF TOPIC RANT ABOUT STEAMPUNK:
I laughed my ass off when Korey said "Ya know the kids these days, they love the Steampunks." I took that to be a perfectly curt and condescending way to acknowledge those who actually like steampunk (and I'll freely admit that I may be reading too much into the statement). Still, it made me happy just to think that other people roll their eyes at steampunk like I do. Thus sparking this rant... I'm in fucking college and two of my suite-mates still love fucking steampunk while I find it to be absurdly one note. It's an aesthetic like any other: goth, sci-fi, fantasy, noir, etc. etc., but I don't see it being used as creatively as the others or, for that matter, as sparingly. For example, there are ELEMENTS of a western in Breaking Bad, and there are ELEMENTS of mythology in The Cabin in The Woods, but 9 times out of 10 there are never ELEMENTS of steampunk; it goes full fucking swing into whatever it's influencing. Even when the end product is good like The Legend of Korra, steampunk inspiration dominates the scene and, in my opinion, stifles creativity. That's my main problem with it. Like Korey's view on fanfiction, I think steampunk stifles the imagination and creativity of those who meddle in the genre by virtue of being so restrictive. (That certainly seems to be the case with Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters. "Too much of the same." is the SpillCrew's most frequent criticism. "Too Van Helsing. Too unoriginal.") I don't have a problem with the IDEA of steampunk, in fact I think it's a pretty cool idea, but it doesn't play well with others. It's hard to water down a steampunk influence. In my opinion Bioshock was the only time steampunk has had a SUBTLE hand in influencing something for the better, and even then the end product was inventive and interesting due almost entirely to all OTHER influences on the game: art deco, Ayn Rand, a dystopian future, etc. etc. In conclusion, I hold out hope that steampunk will be my generation's regrettable visual aesthetic, and dubstep our regrettable musical aesthetic, to vanish quickly from popular culture.
Leon I really hope you read this Jeremy Renner is this generations Micheal Biehn.
And Korey Renner has not won an academy award lol.
Comment by Patriautism on January 25, 2013 at 11:28pm It was produced by Will Ferrell and Adam Mckay... Says a lot,
Comment by Mel Pope on January 25, 2013 at 11:18pm I'll rent it. I'm more about visuals rather than substance so I'll probably enjoy it.
Really Korey? You forgot the name Xena? You can't remember the best adventure/fantasy lesbian couple show ever made?

Frankly, I'm surprise.
Comment by DJBlaze on January 25, 2013 at 10:50pm I don't think that the Spill Crew mean to tear this film a new one. I mean c'mon, they are watching movies constantly. The movie has to do something they haven't seen. Us, we don't watch movies day in day out. I saw the movie and loved it, but then I haven't been watching movies since birth.
Comment by Charmingman93 on January 25, 2013 at 8:36pm I disagree with the accent thing. Doesn't explain why I don't pronounce bath Baarrrth, or people in the West Country sound completely different to me? Shakespeare was from Stratford, he wouldn't sound like someone from Virginia. Also what about Aussies and the New Zealanders?!!
