Joystiq reports today that the first game in the Halo franchise, 'Halo: Combat Evolved', is going to be remade and released on it's 10 year anniversary. Saber Interactive - the company behind 'Timeshift' and the upcoming 'Inversion' - will be the developers behind the remake. No word yet on the engine powering the game, but it has been revealed that it wont be the Reach engine.
The remake will be more than just the same original Bungie game with updated graphics. The new game will be built from scratch with all new art assets, and will support 1080p resolution and 3D televisions (for that one guy who owns a 3D television).
Do you feel the developers are just milking the franchise at this point?

Well now everyone does, the opinion is right there on paper.
Comment by Zambooxal the Booty man on February 8, 2011 at 5:48pm They're milking it. This is an idea that sounded good on paper but quickly someone realized that there was no need but someone heard it and want to make a quick buck. I wish they'd do 2 while there at it. I'd be a liar if I said I'm not gonna get it the games gonna be awesome
I thinks its good idea in a way cause because most halo players never played the first
Comment by ChadsBro on February 6, 2011 at 8:08pm No I don't think they're milking this, Halo is a classic, and definitely has some flaws. Also, it lacked online support. This game will benefit from a remake.
Comment by doubtfulhenry on February 6, 2011 at 12:28am I knew, beyond any shadow of a doubt that that franchise would continue well after Reach, regardless that it was stated by the creators that it was finished. It will keep going until it stops making money, which sadly means many many more in the future.
Personally i think it's not a very good series to begin with. The multiplayer hooked millions of people upon its release on the consoles but better multiplayer games have risen since so i think the Halo series should've just died off years ago.
