If it's crap... We'll tell you

While I know this isn't really movie news, I am aware that many people on this site are quite familiar with video games. The Guitar Hero franchise is very well known with them as is the rest of the known world. The recent installment, cleverly titled "Guitar Hero 5", has stirred up some controversy via Courtney Love. Last week, she posted several nasty (and pretty much grammatically incorrect) Tweets (Source: MTV) about Activision, accusing them of "breach of contract" and "necrophilai" (sic).

Her psycho babble stems from the ability to play her late husband, and Nirvana front man, Kurt Cobain in the game. Many people game critics thought this was very odd to put into the game, as there are many theories that Cobain's suicide was partly caused by commercialization pressures. Now Activision already released a statement saying they had acquired the rights to use Cobain's likeness in any way they wished directly from Love. Originally, it was shown that he would only play the songs "Smells like Teen Spirit" and "Lithium" in the game. Later, it was discovered you can actually unlock Cobain as a fully playable character to use a singer in any song players wish. Thus you would get very odd performances like so:

...Yeah, you can do that. Now to video game enthusiasts this doesn't really mean much, after all it's just a character skin over a prerecorded model. But it seems like Love, joined by the surviving members of Nirvana (Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl), are demanding for this feature to be removed (Source: AP). They claim this is "disrespectful" to the memory of Kurt Cobain. And now Bon Jovi (Source: IGN) commented about the controversy stating he wouldn't like to see a cartoon version of himself singing other songs either. Love capped off her Twitter rampage by claiming "Kurt" would never have liked this Guitar Hero thing as she does.

So what the hell is this? These musicians are all pissed off about the use of cartoon characters singing the songs that have made them famous? It's people playing karaoke on their console for God's sake, are they pissed off at these fans for wanting to sing (albeit poorly) their songs? Furthermore, they're pissed off about a game that has had the ability to introduce many once famous songs to a new generation that has taken an interest in this music?

I have seen many video game controversies as I have grown up with the medium. But this one has to be the dumbest I've ever heard of. What do you guys think? Do these musicians have a point? Or is this another case of celebrities wanting to say idiotic things?
